Sato staying at BAR
Takuma Sato will stay at BAR in 2005, the team has confirmed.
BAR made the announcement ahead of Sato and engine supplier Honda’s home race at Suzuka this weekend. Sato signed a three-year contract with BAR at the beginning of 2003. He spent the first year testing for the team, before replacing Jacques Villeneuve in a race seat this year. The deal for 2005 was dependent on Sato reaching certain performance targets this season – something he has done. The Japanese driver has been quick but erratic. The highlights have been a maiden podium at Indianapolis and a mature drive to come from the back of the field to finish sixth at Shanghai last time out. BAR will wait for the outcome of the Contract Recognition Board hearing on Jenson Button before announcing who will partner Sato next year. original article: http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=31286 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd say... Good on him! i'm glad he's staying... the BAR will be fine next year without Jenson. Its nearly the end of the season and BAR hasnt confirm their second driver! hopefully Mika... but he's still thinking about it ![]()

Glad to hear that Sato will be with BAR for the next couple of years. BAR has a great talent, that with some more experience could be a championship driver. He certainly is the most exciting driver, and I hope to see him succeed.

Yea, i like Sato... he's not a Montoya or a Raikkonen, but he might be the next Button... he has a lot of potential... he will be one of Japan's best drivers or he probably already is the best japanese driver. Becoz no japanese driver ever had as many points as him

I can't wait to see how he performs in front of his home crowd. I remember two years ago in the 2002 season he scored his first points at his home race (I believe that was the first time he scored points), that was a great moment and fun to watch. He finished 5th or 6th in that race, I can't remember exactly.
