    Audi Milestones Project

    Hello Ultimatecarpage forum members!

My name is Dave, 20 years old. As I think that this website is one of the most updated with actual news and concepts, but also contains some rare historic pieces, I decided to include your opinions in my university project. It would be a great help, and would be nice to read opinions of the car experts.

I am doing a kind of "Timeline" of the Audi brand, where I have to include most ground-breaking or revolutionary Audi-s from history, but also some of present cars of the brand representing the way how the brand will continue design its cars for the future.

As the title says, I would like you to mention kind of "milestones" of Audi, from the times of Auto Union till today. Please mention as much cars as you can, with just one sentence about why was it/is it so ground-breaking from your point of view.

Then I have to create a video, catalogue and poster, where the cars will be present. I will include every car you mention, and share the poster/video in about 10 days, because that is the deadline for the project.

Thanks for every single post in advance,

    Dave ([email protected])

P.S. If I wrote something wrong, I apologize for my English.

Well that's a tough starting point. How about the R8 Le Mans car because it really set Audi up for the world stage and it was the beginning of their domination in endurance racing.

The one that stands out for me is definitly the Audi Avus Quattro with its amazing 6.0 W12 engine.
That still lives on in the Bugatti Veyron.

Wow, you definitely see the resemblance in the front fascia.

I thought the only real relative before that was the VW Nardo concept.

Audi Quattro. Revolutionary with it's 4x4 system.
Audi RS2. Sparked the whole Power-stationwagon marked.

Can we go back as far as the Auto Union cars? If so, those racing cars were unbelievable.
I want to die in my sleep like my Grandma, not screaming like the other 3 people in her car.

There are 10 types of people in this world. People who understand binary and people who don't.

This is really important. IMO, this is their greatest contribution to automotive history. Audi are almost single-handedly responsible for the for the proliferation of AWD, first in rallying and then production cars.

Too Fast to Race, a documentary on Group B rally car racing, discusses how the Audi Quattro revolutionized the world of Rallying:

They were also cornerstone to the proliferation of diesel engines, in both street cars and motorsport. I believe that 2006 the R10 TDi was the first diesel to have extraordinary success in any for of motorsport outside of the Dakar Rally.

Introducing TDi does start to blur the lines between Audi and VW, which is probably something that will complicate your argument and make for a better discussion.

Audi's use and fad starter of LED lights draped around light bezels began one of the most pretentious and annoying trends on the road.

If you want to add something of negative significance.
