    Alpine A108

    Alpine A108.

The Alpine A108 became the successor of the A106, and it already showed the design characteristics that became so prominent in the A110. The car was presented in 1960 and the engine of the Renault 4 (747cc) and Dauphine (845 cc)became available, giving a power range of 31 to 68 BHP. In the latter guise the car was capable of 170 kph.

Of course the body was made of glassfibre, built on a space frame chassis. The car was meant as a stop gap before the A110 and actually the construction rights were sold to Willys in Brazil, who continued to produce the car as the Interlagos.

    Altogother 177 examples were produced.

Shown here is an A108 Cabriolet and an Interlagos, which were both present at the 2004 Technoclassica in Essen. The yellow coupe is an active participant in the European historics and is here shown at the Zolder track in 2003

Wasn't the Interlagos sold in Brazil only as the Willys Interlagos?

This car looks beautiful. And because of its rarity much more interesting than famous Alpine A110. Reminds me of some italian car, but I can't fathom out which exactly.

Dunno about what italian car the A108 reminds you, but from what I know the A108 Cabriolet was designed by Michelotti and the coupe (actually called Berlinette Tour de France) was made after the cabriolet (A106 was designed by Michelotti too)....... so YES, it's normal to remind you of an italian car...
