I understand the need to show a new Bond & his creation, but when you strip away all elements, It lacks a certain Bond quality.

I guess the other problem I have with movies like this which, as Slick suggests, are so delibrately open to a sequel, is that Everyone knows a Bond sequel is coming - there should really be no need to lead into it. Granted the link between Casino Royale are noted, but I thought the end of that was far too open as well.

Slick mentions that this Bond is the closest in characterisation to the Fleming novels, and that has merit in theory. but the Bond 'training' concept is kind of old-hat in the movie industry these days - everyone is so keen to see where characters originate from that the concept kind of gets a bit boring......back in the day a characters motivation could be explained in one short 5 minute scene indicating why they do what they do, but instead we have to sit through what is essentially the filler between the start & conclusion films?

I feel ripped off if this is just like the Matrix Reloaded in character......

Daniel Craig is contracted to do 4 movies.
Hmm. How many did Pierce Brosnan do? 5? Rodger Moore and Sean Connery did more right?

I think it was made to not allow you to breath through it. To almost feel the confusion as they felt trying to understand this organisation noone knows a thing about.

Already i have heard the next is 2010. And i feel it will follow on like Quantum of solace did from Casino royal. To be honest he still has unfinished business.

My feeling of the QS is it reminds me of the Matrix Reloaded. When it was over you knew there was more to come in Revolutions. And that is the feeling i got with QS. Cut in half. Only thing is the next movie isn't out within month. And there is the break down of that thought maybe.

But again i will say this. This bond is the closest to the Ian Fleming novels. This is the closest to the Bond he had in mind.

But me personally. I see this as Bond in training. Almost a presequel. The rough and tuff brutal at times - edges being chiselled off to form the legendary Bond.
True, although I truly wasn't expecting the Matrix to have a sequel, let alone two. I might have been young at that point though, so I might not be so analytical. I wish they could bring back some of that suaveness and gadgets that Connery had and combine it with the realistic feeling of the newer movies.

Mum and i watched it tonight. And first thing she said near the end ?. IS it over already.

I feel he is smooth and slick. But i also feel his going to kill someone in seconds. Which is what led me to the new bonds.
That thing he did with you know who in the dumpstar. Was very emotionless and cold. That is something i felt was hard to explain to my mother as i couldn't explain it to myself, Very cold after sitting there on the ground holding you know who.

So many movies today leave themselves open for more. And yet they don't make a sequel. The shit ones they always do. One that didn't make a sequel was Hostage never ended right. Matrix needs a 4th.

For anyone that hasn't seen it i advice not clicking on the link.

Also i read speculation that Craig more then likely will leave with 3 bond movies. The 4th it seems is optional.

I just seen Ian Fleming on the bio channel. Amazing story. Of his life in British intelligence. A spy a lady's man. Then his books.. He didn't live long enough to see his book make the big screen. But one of his last comments was The bond they used was to toff i think he described it could be wrong. But he was after more tradesman. Sean Connery brought humour and playboy to it.
The Bond he had in mind was truly his life in secret intelligence and women. The gadgets they mentioned also with hot fast cars. The bio seemed like it was done before the new bond. No mention of the new movies or actor.

If anyone has seen it - It was truly amazing viewing. Every Bond every movie has a peace of him.

Thought is was a good story let down by trying to give it a rushed feel.

The hand held cameras and very tight shots made it hard to follow at times in the chase/ fight sequences
