Smart Roadster

For the benefit of our North American friends, deprived of the Smart range of cars, here's the Roadster-Coupe. I understand Dodge (also part of the DaimlerChrysler group) have a concept, called the Slingshot, based on the Smart Roadster.

I like the roadster, although it is very pricey. The Smart 4/2 is a bit of a drawback.

To expencive, no power, slow gearbox, driven it a few times, it just looks a bit diferent from other cars, but i liked the driving posicion probably when i get my Elise the power and gearbox issue will disapear.

What do you mean deprived of the smart range? We just got the Smart Fortwo Coupe and Cabriolet and I've actually seen two of them on the streets just the other day. We may not have that model but we may get soon. I actually don't know how they managed to bring it here. It's sooo small, our Honda Accord looks like a truck compaired to the smart.

dont get me wrong, i like the Smart models (especially the fortwo in i saw spain), but any car with that kind of a price and under 100 horsepower or a 0-60 time of 10.9 seconds isn't going to sell very well here. the only place i can see them selling is in California because they have different emission regulations.

The Smart cars are great for businesses, you can plaster them with stickers and they get remembered because they're unique

last thing i heard is that they were gonna be sold here starting this next model year. since its under the daimler chrysler umbrella it would be rather easy, jut the whole crash test thing. seems to me that in urban areas it would do fine, but it wouldnt fair so well in the south and midwest. they'll probably just do the mini thing and market it only in metropolitan areas.

Like I've said it before, they are already available in Canada and if they are available and seen them on the streets here, they must be available in USA.
