Williamsf1 2006 New Livery

Quote:
WilliamsF1 will introduce a new interim livery when it begins winter testing at Barcelona.

The team, which starts work on the new Cosworth V8 engine at Barcelona on Tuesday, will be resplendent in midnight blue with white detailing on both its cars and trucks.

The hybrid FW27Cs will also carry the white flying chevrons and white nose flash that first appeared on Frank Williams Racing Cars in the late 1960s and early 1970s prior to the formation of Williams Grand Prix Engineering in 1977.

The livery came to prominence in 1969 on Piers Courage’s Brabham BT26.

WilliamsF1's cars have been predominantly white with blue flashes since the team joined forces with BMW in 2000.

But with the Munich manufacturer moving on to start its own team after buying Sauber, and principal sponsor HP's decision to quit F1, Williams has changed its identity to suit its current requirements.

As well as continued RBS branding the car also bears allegiance to new tyre supplier Bridgestone.

The team intends to run in these colours until its definitive livery is revealed at the launch of its car at the team's Grove HQ in the UK on January 27.

Looks to me like they couldn't find a primary sponsor...

And all-blue is what you'd expect from a French team like Ligier/Prost, not a British one.

RBS == Royal Bank of Scotland

Blue has and always will be the correct colour for their (currrent) major sponsor

Scottish race teams have always raced in BLUE. Check out Ecurie Ecosse cars in UCP files ......

BMW are likely to have dominant white, with blue and red just like their formula bmw race cars.

Bridgestone were terrible tyres in the 05 season, they are switching to Bridgestone because Michellin decided it wanted less teams.

And because they are probably pulling out of F1 in '07, so a lot of teams decided to switch now instead of being forced to in '07
