I would say most likely the M3 if you're comparing it to the base Corvette. If you substitute that with a Z06 Vette I would say it does a little better. But this all depends on the sound you're looking for.

Depends on what contient you stand on. If you ask an American, you'll probably get the response that a V-8 provides a superior exhaust note than any engine of lesser cylinders. I'll agree with that and place my vote for the Corvette.

Umm, prolly so, every Z car i've ever heard stock is quiet. If we were talking with some modifacations to the exhaust I've heard some that sound real good. But for this discussion yes.

The corvette shouldnt be compared to anything other than car with V8s or more cylinders. I say this because IMO the sound of a good V8 is superior to a 6 or 4 cylinder, although ive heard my fair share of good 6s and 4s. Ive heard the M3, but not a 350 yet, so i cant say.

With respect, you've heard the sounds of 6s and 4s with emissions and noise pollution controls. The V8 'sound' survives all of those as the exhaust pulses are a LOT bigger.
Listen to an rally Alfa Twin Cam or Alpine-Renault GrpIV or AN Escort BDA and you're opinion will change
And don't get me started on bikes !!!

Still love the 'burble' of a V8, but they each sound great when on-song !

Here's a beautiful sounding ROTARY
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/club_...riah_3laps.mpg
( sorry, it's 40Mb )

From a UK trackday at Donnington.
400+hp in an RX7.

( BTW, for all the lighter-is-better fans, note how the radical keeps the gap except on the long straight. Crainer Curve at Donnington is an awesome corner at speed and I see the RX-7 driver gives it respect and feathers it. Traying to chuck a big lump through there woudl frighten me )
