AMG high-performance car with 336 kW/457 hp: The new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG – a C-Class as never before
Affalterbach , Jul 04, 2007 In the German Touring Car Championships (DTM) the new AMG C-Class ensures exciting motor racing at the highest level, and now its roadgoing sister model is celebrating its debut: the new C 63 AMG. Its AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine develops a peak output of 336 kW/457 hp and a maximum torque of 600 newton metres – unrivalled figures in this segment. Accordingly the C 63 AMG accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. In conjunction with an all-new front axle, speed-sensitive AMG sports steering and the new, 3-stage ESP Ò, the AMG sports suspension ensures both outstanding driving enjoyment and exemplary handling dynamics. A combination of expressive design, a decidedly sporty interior and a high level of everyday practicality makes the C 63 AMG a unique high-performance car. 6.3 litre is a lot. couldnt they mahage the same power from a 5.5 litre using tubo os superchargers? thank god they didnt squish the CL63's V12 in it.

The new 6.3 is actually very light..lighter than the bmw v10 for example. The engine is designed by a clever new guy who has focused on a larger bore to gain extra capacity, revvability (7200rpm) and torque. This engine (and the newer 3.5 V6) are 4 valves per cylinder unlike the old 5.5 V8 and 3.2 V6. Its a very good engine in y opinion with excelent variable intake manifold design and vallve timing features. It also has a clever friction reducing cylinder liner. And just for fun the engine in some programmes deliberately causes misfires to create a more aggressive V8 sound to contrast its refinement.

Bah. I have a hell of a time finding engine masses (not "weights" - so archaic) online anyways.
Back to the cars. I cannot decide whether I'd have this, an M3 or a RS4. All are so good... |

Still wish Mercedes could fit the car with a proper manual or at least a paddle shifted manual (not an autobox with flaps behind the steering wheel). Still a fantastic car nonetheless.

Duell, you should have resized the images a little bit, you've saved them at the best quality you could but they're still quite bad because the resolution's so high.
