Alternative Fuel Paper

I am a Journalism (Technically photojournalism) major at the college I attend and even though I just want to take pictures I am still requried to take a course in information gathering.

Basically in this course I am writing a 90 page research paper on a topic of my choosing that must be controversial and have more than one side to the argument.

The two questions I am considering for my paper are:

-Should America worry about its dependency on oil?
-Should America invest in alternate fuel sources?

So I just want any help I can get, any sources you think I should check out (I need a min. of 25) or any thoughts about rewording the questions or anything like that. Thank you all very much for your time and help.

Don't forget to remain critical of "the truth". It has not even been proven solidly yet that the greenhouse effect is caused by CO2. There is simply no way solid evidence.

Do one thing when touching these very sensitive matters and that is to remain critical. With a little bit of technical knowledge, you will see many projected things for cars will never achieve the results promised, like hybrids.

A very interesting thing, where pretty big environmental improvements can be made is engine oil. Ask for information and stuff at one of the companies. Total did a lecture to us and learned me a lot, maybe they can help you too.

90 pages? That's brutal. As for the questions, I'd reword them, eg What alternate fuel sources should America invest in? or What benefits would investment in alternate fuel sources bring? They'd be much better to do as they'd be easier to remain impartial in and present an argument for both sides. As for sources, find reports, docos etc that have already been done/made, and then look up their sources and see what they can offer your report.

Think so ? I had some reports counting in at 300+ pages this year. Just imagine the printing costs if you need to turn in it in threefold...

Anyway. Something shot into my mind. The European Union has some excellent files with information available. If you go and search their database, I am sure you will find useful things ! I have used it a few times too, as a matter of fact I am using it right now too for a 60-page report on passive safety for lorries.
