he did it in PS, theres a tut for it on the photoshop bible. essentially he is tracing it tho

i didnt use a tut, i just traced over the orig.with another layer-simple stuff

that is the only thing it is lacking. Colour. Otherwise, a good trace. can't really be judged unless it's coloured.
