i said faster than the ford because it seems about where it would fall into place. If it was faster than the GT then it ould be in the 1:18s with the ferrari enzo which seems impossible to me, if it beat teh ford that would just mean around 1:20, more realistic.

It definitly should be faster than Enzo, Enzo is heavier and it has a lower top speed.

dude the highest speed ever achieved by any car during a lap on their test track is 186mph which was done by one of the 2004 renault f1 cars. somehow i don't think top speed would matter, it's all about cornering speed...

The F1 apparently has worse handling than the Enzo anyway, so its a question of straight line speed against handling through the twisties

That's history, the best time now is by a new Donkervoort.

You have to remember that the McLaren is 10 years older than the Enzo or CGT, therefore it is set up for older rubber, and doesn't feature fancy-pants electronics systems to keep it pointing in the right direction.

It is also a road car first and foremost, wheras the Enzo and CGT both have a track element to them.

I think in Rowan Atkinson's review of the CGT and F1 round Goodwood the McLaren's extra pace in the higher gears made it slightly faster around the track though - although they didn't time it.

Isn't Mr. Bean... Rowan Atkinson??? he does car reviews?

Anyways, i think the Mclaren would be slightly slower than the CGT... because the handling of this car is not really that good... just going off topic a little: i hate the look of the mclaren f1... it's so ugly.

yep - Mr. Bean...

He has a McLaren F1 - or at least he did... I don't know if he fixed it and kept it after he sacked it...

he is a keen participator in historic races, with an Aston Martin Ulster. Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) has a Maserati 300S, but makes no impression on the frontrunners

He has been seen in it on several occasions this year alone.
The damage was mostly cosmetic IIRC - not too expensive to rectify - and I don't think it is the tyre of car you give up lightly.
