If there was one brand you would bring back to life...

For me, I love the niche market companies and automotive history. I have followed Vector Aeromotive closely. In Ohio, a company called American Aeromotive is trying to bring the Vector Aeromotive brand back to life. They face a big challenge because the brand has mixed reputation. Thinking about Vector made me think about some of the other brands that had comeback to life or fought to get back in the public eye. I think Bugatti which is on their 4th attempt to become a serious contender in the limited production car market.

Since there seems to be some people with good knowledge of some small or forgotten brands that have not been making cars recently, I thought it would be interesting to see which one or which ones you would like to see try to make a comeback?

Examples...

Voison
Tucker
Bricklin
Cistilia
Duesenberg
Packard
Pegaso
Cunningham
DeLorean

Valiant. I'd sure love a modern, RWD charger.

AMC is a brand that I am sure someone will use. The question is what will they bring it back as. Will they try to bring it back as a more masss production oriented company or as a limited production luxury or supercar builder. Maybe the real question is will Diamler claim they still control the brandname even though they are not using it. That would also apply to Plymouth. I cannot see Diamler themselves ever bringing back those brands, but then again they did bring Maybach back after decades of not being used.

GM does not have a history of bringing back to life brands they have retired. I am sure some people may still be hoping the Oakland brand would come back or maybe LaSalle or maybe one person is hoping GM will brin back Geo as well.

You know, I think I have more than one, I would like to see Hudson return, as well as MG. I think MG was a great car way back in the day.

I thought MG was still barely in business. I had seen some sedans with their name on it. I know MG has not been in the United States for a long time, but the name is still being used by Rover. I think they are struggling to keep the doors open.

I think classic MG sports car are fun. For many Americans the MG was the icon for traditional sports cars. These days people think Miata before they think MG. I would love to have an old TC.

Of the one's you mentioned definetly Pegaso. I'd love to see them build beutiful and unique sportscars again... Havn't really keept my eye on Hispano Suiza recently, but IIRC there was at least some concept from them a few years ago, perhaps they could help Pegaso out. Even though Pegaso used to have top notch performance I think that wouldn't be worth striving for anymore, but a *decent* amount would be nice, let's say enough to keep up with a Corvette or so... :dreams:

Rover went under a few months ago, taking MG with it. But it now looks as though MG will be at least partially resurrected after Nanjing Automotive of China bought what little remained of the company post liquidation. It certainly looks as though the MG brand is most likely to be resurrected rather than Rover, though everything is still very much up in the air and nobody seems to be 100% sure what will become of the company.

...but on second thoughts...
I was browsing through my car pictures, stopped at Jensen and thought "they used to make quite pretty cars", but realized there was already a "new version" of them...
Time sweetens the memories, if you'd relive them you'd probably be dissapointed. There is always the same problem with re-making classics. You have to do *alot* better than the original for it to be concidered a success. That's the way of the human mind.

I have been amazed at the amount of money some people put into Pacers and Gremlins. I am amazed any company would use the name Gremlin on a car. Maybe someday there will be a company that calls their car "The Lemon."

Porto - Portugal
Delorean - could be a new brand of sportscars - supercars - specialy fond of advanced technologycal products.

Duesenberg - super deluxe sedans, limos and coupes

Matra/Alpine - Sportscars and supercars, completly driver oriented, no gizmos, just chassis and engine, pure driving/track day cars

Just my two cents
