The B43 was the last of the F3’s to emerge from the Bolton factory. It appeared in 1978 and earlier that year Derek Bennett had died form the injuries he suffered after a freak hang-glider crash. With the loss of the genius behind the Chevron badge the brand only competed on for one more season. Sixteen B43’s were sold, all fitted with a 2000 cc Toyota engine. The competition from Ralt had become very strong, and the only major championship won was the Italian competition, in a car driven by Siegfried Stohr. It’s other major claim to fame was a second place finish in the famous Monte Carlo F3 race.
The car shown here is the Trivellato team car, and was used by Stohr. It was shown in the paddock of the Silverstone Historics in 2005.
