no you're all wrong. The teams are switching to bridgestone because the tyre changes are now allowed for 2006. Meaning michelin will no longer have the advantage, because the bridgestones are far better on short sprints. Michelins succeed in endurance battles. Which was the case in 05, but will no longer be. Its also likely that michelin will pull out in 07, so its better for teams to start working with bridgestone as soon as possible. Which is a sad thing because i personally prefer michelin.

Petronas will be the primary sponsor.

Michelin has the better consumer tires. I wonder if the negative publicity from the Indianapolis GP had anything to do with the decision to pullout of F1.

hah, I was thinking the exact opposite.

That it was nice to see a car that didnt' look like a mish-mash of corporate sponsor colours and painted by a 3rd year art student desperate to make a name for themself.

Possibly it's because it evokes the Tyrrell look

Petronas is the primary sponsor of the Sauber/BMW team.

Once again, I'm with Matra. That Blue has been a Cosworth colour (probably due to their former association with Ford) since ever. Although it's a shame it isn't British Racing Green (which they could have got away with), it still looks very nice. Perhaps a bit similar to the RBR01 though.

As for Bridgestone tires, it has everything to do with them pulling out in 07. The top teams will, to a certain extent, engineer their chassis to suit the tire's characteristics. It will be much easier for them to do this over the course of two years, rather than the off-season. The short-term 04 performance of the Japanese rubber won't be a concern.
