You're right its platform (DEW 98?) is/was shared with rebodied Jag & T-Bird, which is why I chose my wording carefully to call it a stand-alone model, not platform
But anyway, at sub-20k sales figures I can't imagine the production line that produces LS is anywhere near critical mass, profit-wise. To put those numbers into perspective, tiny Holden's exports of Commodore-platform vehicles (not local sales) amounts to 60,000 units
I have a few tests of LS, it did seem a good & appealing machine, no doubt. And perhaps a pity that it wasn't exported here because I suspect it might have generated more sales than the miniscule amount S-Type has achieved
