Well, two can play at that game.

Then there was an RS6 Plus. Still got a hatchback. Still VAG. Old, but fast

And probably less heavy overall, making the power-to-weight better.

2 cylinders and a few cc's lopped off

Yes, but the 2lt FSI Turbo still sounds pretty damn good, just not as good as the VR6

Busso?

You mean Lusso...?

I love Alfa's 3.2 and 3.0 V6's... they sound amazing! The Ford 2.5 Duratec V6 is a bit of alright, too.

Busso V6 = Arese V6 = one of the best looking engines in the world. This engine is sometimes referred as the Busso (engineer who designed it) or Arese (where Alfa Romeo is located, just outside Milan). It was first used in 1979 in the Alfa 6, and ended production this year, so that's a 27 year run. It was available from the facotry with 2.5, 3 and 3.2-litre configurations, and through it's life it underwent a lot of changes (catalysators, 4-valve heads). British company Autodelta also offered it in 3.3, 3.5 and 3.7-litre guises, and even some were equipped with supercharhger, producing up to 400bhp.
