2012 Bahrain Grand Prix (April 20-22)
Following last year's cancellation, this year's Bahrain Grand Prix will go ahead despite ongoing protests in the small state. The first practice session is about to begin but one Force India crew member has already left due to a violent incident earlier in the week.

Tremendously impressive show from Kimi and Roman for Lotus, more pit stop problems for McLaren, Mercedes did what they could, and kudos to Seb for his first win of the season. So far the season is full of surprises... can't remember the last time F1 was this engaging to watch.

Di Resta also had a great result which will be less visible due to my man's (Kimi's) great race. Sad to see Riccardo drop down on the first lap; it would have been interesting to see what he could have done without that incident. I think Di Resta will replace Schumacher when he leaves again. |

Good season so far.
Lotus doesn't need to be 7mph faster than most the other cars on the straight...with a bit more downforce Kimi probably would have won. Nice having a new team up front though...and having post race Kimi interviews. ![]() What did you guys think of Rosberg's driving? No penalties awarded but I felt he was on the dangerous side of aggressive. |

It was so close for Kimi, would've been nice to see him win... I thought this was interesting... Pirelli responds to Michael Schumacher's criticism of its tyres - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com I had more or less been supporting the idea of crappier tire to make the racing interesting. But I guess there is probably a line somewhere. The only part of the current rule I don't much care for is the limit of the available tires. You are kind stuck with doing tire saving/conservation both way if you stop more or stop less. I think there should be a strategic option available for using more stops on fresh rubber...

Schumacher making excuses over his less than stellar finish?

He did make up 12 places despite that....but I guess he was expecting more...
It will get boring though if for a 300km/90min race they have to drive conservatively for half of that....High degradation tires are fine and dandy if you let people have the options of a) push hard all the time and throw more tires on and have to stop more or b) try to nurse the tire, go slower but stop less. Now though you get a) use more tires but can't push all the time because you will run out, so you HAVE to go slower at some point to eek out a finish(or drop 10 places in 2 laps with couple laps to go) or b) nurse the tire to go slower and stop less....

He doe make a photos point of that but seems to be the only outspoken one. That all have been given virtually the same set of cards.

Considering most of the time he makes no effort in criticizing anything publicly, he was probably quite frustrated with it....

He's had some sort of glitch or cruddy luck in all the races this year IIRC...so a bit of frustration wouldn't be beyond reason.
