McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has lost his pole position for Sunday’s Spanish race after the Barcelona stewards found his car did not have sufficient fuel onboard. Hamilton stopped out on track at the end of Q3 after being told by his team to pull over at the side of the circuit on his return to the pits.

As a result of the stewards’ decision, Williams’ Pastor Maldonado inherits pole position for the Barcelona round, whilst Hamilton - excluded from the qualifying results - will start Sunday's race from the back of the grid.

Welp, that's a fantastic outcome for Williams. Glad they finally get a win again, and good on Maldo for keeping Alonso at bay. Especially at his home GP.

One helluva season so far. 5 races 5 different winners, two of which have won their first races. I think its down to the tires. The pitting strategy has really equalized the field. Now the pit crews need to play catchup to keep their drivers ahead. If it weren't for some bad pit stops, i think the entire season thus far would have been different.

Awesome season, awesome race, awesome drive from Maldonado. I thought he wouldn't hold Alonso behind, but he's done a great job! Let him come close, but nothing more that that, forcing Fernando to waste his tyres running with DRS. Never thought Pastor could play strategy games actually.
