Who would've guessed it...

Bah, never let facts get in the way of a good story...

I also decided to change channels to see the first Nurburgring race of the International Open GT series.

That's how interested I was in F1.

I didn't see a thing at all, just got back to the hotel from VdE and read the news. I won't be seeing a thing tomorrow either.

The racing has been damn good this year henk and Ferrer. Best since I started watching in 199(6?)7.

I have only caught a few minutes of GT Open. I like how a few series now have live and archived broadcasts on the net - ALMS, Grand-AM, GT Open, GT1/GT3, etc.

GT Open also have live streaming? Thanks for telling me

And yes, completely agree, this is probably the best season I have ever seen live. 6 races - 6 winners, very tightly packed grid and pretty much action (not in Monaco, though - after the race we tried to recall any single successful overtaking move and couldn't recall one).

If you have a spare second, take your time and watch the race. You may remember I was writing about my drop of interest to F1 in previous years, but now things have really changed for me and I enjoyed an absolute most of this year's races.

But still, again I wonder, why Lotus can't get in touch with a good strategy - that is not the first time they lose on that, and 'Kimi train' was just ridiculous! It was pretty obvious he should have been called in, what was the reason for collecting everyone behind and then pitting to appear in the very back? Stupid move, Lotus guys.

On a sidenote, Mr.Malik added some spam to his earlier mesage :/ Very wise, sir! Wasted my time to answer you.

What is annoying about Lotus/Kimi is that they have a car that can win, and they have 2 drivers that can win, and every race a something (often a combination of factors) occurs and it all gets binned.

I would say Romain Grosjean is a potential future WC.

Pastor Maldonado is becoming more of a villain.

I don't think Senna is really deserving of a seat at Williams so far, but I suppose things could change. His name is very beneficial, and even after this year if Williams boots him he may still be able to stick around.

They were expecting rain, a rain that never really came.

I haven't seen a single one, due to various circumstances.

Absolutely! But on the other hand, that is one of those factors that differ best teams from the rest of the field.

Agree, he is very fast, but he should become a bit more frequent guest on a finish line.

I know, but that was just a bad strategy, as they finally pitted him one or two laps before the predicted rain. If they took time to serve him before the tyres have gone, they could even make up that time, methinks - he was losing way too much time. Strange, especially after his previous story with worn tyres when he dropped 10 or so positions in the end of the race. Don't know, it's always easy to judge from in front of the TV, but I thought it was obviously a mistake from them.

Of course! UCP is busy Europe-trotting for the benefit of all site visitors!

Do you have a DVR to record the races? For that matter, how common are DVRs in Europe?

Much like Prost and some others have noted this year though, tire is such a lottery this year. Some teams gets it right and do well one week, the same team can be out of the window and go nowhere. Look at RBR between Bahrain and Spain....

Monaco again kinda showed Schumi's complaint again. The phase when Vettel was running his old tire and running away from the cars that just pitted. He was pushing on his old tires because he knew he is getting rid of them soon, and the pitted car are running slower than they could be as they knew they had to run another 30-40 laps on them....Silly when you have to do that on a series focuses on "sprint" distance....You can see Audi or Peugeot do that at Le Mans when they have to run 5 hours on a set of tires, not 40 mins....

I was actually on holidays in South Africa for three weeks also. And I think I do not have a dvr, but I hardly watch things afterwards anyway.

What photos did you take of interesting cars? Those oddities are far more important that time spent with family on leisure or basking in nature's glory.

EDIT: How mutually intelligible are Afrikaans and Dutch? Did you have any strange conversations using the two languages?
