It was in unbelievable condition, probably even better than when it left the factory - and there wasn't a speck of dirt on it. I saw quite a few people stop and look at it.

As far as I know, these were never sold out here and, as it is left hand drive, I would imagine that it was privately imported.

Sorry if I caused confusion it was an early 5th gen. is what I meant.

One sighting I had this morning was not a very pleasant one. There was an immaculate Datsun 120Y I've seen from time to time at the local shops and I've always wanted to get a photo of it. It's white with a blue flash on the side and, as the driver must be in his 80s it's probably a one owner car. I saw it this morning and it had just been involved in an accident. The driver was standing at the side of the road, so hopefully he is OK, but the damage to the front of the car was so bad it would have to be a write off.

On a brighter note, I saw a nice white 1970s Renault station wagon in the car park at Woolworths in Wentworthville. I'll post a photo of that later....

Yesterday, early in the evening I saw a black Rolls Royce Silver Spur, seen that car around this part of town must be a local. Also a red and black Dodge Viper roadster, one of the later ones.

Probably, but I forgot to have a look at the badge to see what model it was though. The owner looked like he was in his mid to late 80s, so it might even be a one owner car.

Not exactly the most interesting of cars, but they are getting rather rare. I saw this in the carpark at Pemulwuy shops yesterday. There aren't many of these left....

Much appreciate the shot angle, BTW... those wheels look a poor fit for the styling.

It's a very late Mitsubishi Sigma and one of the more upmarket variants too (it had the rather tacky sounding "Super Saloon" badge - sounds like somewhere you would go for a few drinks). The car was in quite remarkable condition, albeit minus the triple diamond badge. And, yes, I agree those wheels look pretty dreadful - they don't suit it at all.

And here's a bit about the Sigma "Super Saloon" from Wikipedia:

October 1983 saw the release of the luxurious Sigma "Super Saloon" which, placed above the SE trim level, came only with the 2.6-litre in either five-speed manual or three-speed automatic. Upmarket features of this model included alloy wheels, interior trim more plusher than the SE's (even in the boot which was fully lined), power windows, air conditioning, power steering, additional interior lighting (glove compartment, door, and overhead reading lamps) and additional storage compartments. Two tone paint was also a feature of this model, notable colour combinations being metallic light-dark blue and light-dark brown.

The GJ series Sigma had the distinction of being the only Australian car during the 1980s to be exported to Europe (Chrysler previously did this with the Australian Valiant). The car was sold in the United Kingdom, in both sedan and wagon models, under the marque Lonsdale.

The alloy wheels referred to in the article would undoubtedly have given this car a better look than it has now......
