Well, today I went out to Dural to visit a few nurseries and, just a few minutes from home I saw not one, but two, shiny big black late 40s early 50s Wolseleys negotiating the roundabout at Cornelia Road at Prospect, saw a white GT (or maybe a GTHO) Falcon and a huge white 1970ish left hand drive Ford (Galaxie perhaps?) at Winston Hills, I was behind a mustard yellow GTHO Falcon at Baulkham Hills. I saw some sort of Maserati too (looked 1970s) but I don't know what model it was. After that, finding a parking spot in Dural in front of an early 1960s Mercedes-Benz was a bit of an anti-climax. I looked at three nurseries, but they didn't have what I was looking for, so I stopped off at Flower Power at Glenhaven and, after I parked the car, I saw a red Triumph TR7 at the end of the row. Driving home, as I was turning into Gilbert Road, a white 1960ish Ford Thunderbird turned the corner going the other way and, in Castle Hill I saw a mid 60s Ford Mustang coupe that was done up like one of the Variety Bash cars and a mid 60s Valiant parked outside the Holden dealership on Victoria Avenue.
That's all for today..... |

I saw a few things of interest: an E30-amino(!), a Maybach(!), a Vantage S, a Volt (there are a few about TO), and a 2nd gen NSX.

First GT86 in a dealer. Also red 458 and red Integrale sharing the same street.
Couldn't help thinking that the crude 70's hatchback was way cooler than the super high-tech 21st century berlinetta.

I saw a Subaru Loyale wagon and a gunmetal gray GT86/BR-Z the other day.

I finally watched Quantum of Solace and was glad to see that Bond kept it classy and had three pedals in his Aston.
I was less impressed by his Bronco II, though...

This was a while back but I think this is a Lincoln Continental.
Wish they made Lincolns like they used to- so stylish. It's a really big car too. |

Yet they insist on retro muscle cars.
And then there's the Cadillac Ciel... Europeanness is overrated.

Actually, the '62 Continental's clean styling owed much to Pininfarina's Lancia Florida, so that's pretty European. Or was Farina deliberately baiting American tastes? Either way, the result was a car of sublime proportions considering it's size. My family owned two, a '66 sedan and a couple of years later, a '67 coupe. Great cars, I have fond teenage memories of each.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has a 1963 Continental (black, naturally) in it's permanent collection alongside a Cisitalia 202. Continentals of this series shared the Thunderbird cowl section, BTW.
