They've launched the demo for the engine desginer.

Only inline 4 engines and no forced induction, but my god it's an excellent time waste.

    Or something.

Indeed. I preordered it a while back (the first time I've paid for software in quite some time) and have been enjoying it since. The gameplay is still pretty minimal, but the two guys working on it are proper car guys and it has the potential to be very very good, so it's definitely worth my $25.

Now it is free so you should all get it.

Is it just me or engines produce too much torque easily?

Also, it is difficult if the engines you are building are feasible without benchmarks.

    Halp?

I've noticed that torque is a little generous as well. On highly-cammed engines, getting over 100lbft (135Nm) /liter is not particularly difficult. I don't understand engines or their formulas well enough to guess why.

All I know is that direct injection is cheating.

Indeed. 13:1 compression on a road enigne? Madness...

I do not understand high level engineering either, but easily 100bhp/litre musn't be that normal either...

    Is there HCCI trickery involved?

No, as far as I'm aware, then again Mazda are begining to roll out the new Skyactiv engines with 14:1 compression, so maybe it's not that far off.

On other hand since there are no benchmark as I said I don't know if my engines would comply with emission regulations, or if they would use a lot of fuel or if they would cost a fortune to run...
