With the help of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini have a created a look at the future in the form of the Terzo Millennio design study. The striking show car offers a glimpse at what a future all-electric Lamborghini could look like. The Terzo Millennio was the result of a one-year collaboration with the newly established MIT-Italy department.
At last week's SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Hennessey finally revealed the highly anticipated Venom F5. Designed by Hennessey from the ground up, it features a bespoke carbon-fibre chassis and body. It is powered by a highly tuned, twin-turbo V8 that produces a staggering 1,600 bhp, which is driven to the rear wheels through a paddle-actuated seven-speed gearbox. Thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials, the Venom F5 tips the scales at just 1,338 kg. Production of the very quick machine will be limited to just 24 examples.
One of the great new racing cars due to take to the track in 2018 will be this BMW M8 GTE. Based on the upcoming M8 road car, it features the familiar twin-turbo V8, which is limited to around 500 bhp to meet the regulations. The M8 GTE will compete at both sides of the Atlantic in all the major endurance races.
Later that same year, Volkswagen will make the all-new Polo GTI R5 available to customer teams. Built to the R5 regulations, this new rally car features a 270 bhp version of the familiar and highly successful four-cylinder engine.
