The most perfect examples of Old School and New School Combined from the Factory

Since this is my first post I figured I would start it off with a good topic.

But before I do anything I should mention that I couldn't fit my whole 'topic' in the 'topic bar', so I'll restate it down here again

-> The most perfect examples of Old School and New School Combined from the Factory that was Overlooked

I know, I know. You guys were all hyped to talk and 'mish mash' back and forth about the new camero and mustang against a possible 2007 superbird (could happen). But I was thinkin that we all know that there are a few jewels out there that we know exist. I just wanna see how many we can put together that could fit this description.

Now I don't want to get too analytical about the topic, but what I mean is 'mechanical wise' and not so much technological (but i guess a car built in the 50's that came with a built in paper road map in the visor would be cool to own as compared to a gps today).

So if the car looks unique to itself and can (possibly) out-peform today's cars then post it.

Oh yeah, feel free to post cars from all over. Its the internet, go nuts.

Exactly. Can you rephrase what you want us to create?

I think what you mean is, provide an example of a car that emulates modern technology of today, but through complete accident. My example being, perhaps a heating fan to the left and right of the drivers' seat as opposed to 'heated' and 'cooled' seats of modern times.

actually what i meant was a car that you can buy (even at a junkyard) thats a perfect example of old school and new school

    I was thinking actually of a 1993 bmw 318i

    -rear wheel drive (old school)
-4 cylinder (new school - the kiddies like it)

    somethin like that

Hmm, I get the jist of what you are saying now, I think.

Perhaps a Volkswagen Bus. Can't think of why, but it just seems like it fits the criteria.

Old School: Perfect for the marijuana smoking hippie.
    New School: Seats 7.

With a little research I think i've found the perfect example right here:

1988-1989 Merkur XR4Ti (i guess the 85 to 87 versions were completely shit)

    Old School:
Rear wheel Drive, Two Door, some say with some hot rodding know-how can be tweaked to get some serious power just like with the old time V8's, no airbag (thats some little bit of old school fun right there), huge community dedicated to the car (like the vw bug-its true), dont make it anymore

    New school:
4 cylinder, turbocharged, cheap to find (just like those civics-ironically this could also go in the old school category too as per say those old muscle cars we like $5oo bucks to buy), good drifter and handling (was a rally car in europe), has european design backing it (i guess in europe its chassis cousin was the RS500-go figure), has a somewhat unique look, and can be given body modifications that are from the factory (built for europe)-that will fit no matter what with ease and are pretty cheap to boot (pretty good looking mods too as compared to the stock north american version), and guys its a hatchback-not bad

very fun car to play with from what i read guys-should be fun tooling with one also
