    Toyota's Mini:The XA

Toyota recently launched its own hot hatch based on the Echo in show rooms.
The new car is equipped with 1.5 litres 107bhp unit with either either 4auto or 5 manual gear box.It is claimed to hit the 100 kmh in 10 secs. The interior, however, reminds us of the Mini with the speedometer & the RPM placed in the middle of the console. Its high driving position & ride is typical for its size & gives the driver a wide view of the road all backed up with large window view on the sides. However, the rear window is narrow due to the cut end of its tail design.
The standard package includes:CD-player,2airbags,assisted power steering, power windows and mirrors.....etc
The main down side of the XA is its teeny storage bag which may not be a priority to young people aimed by this car.

    Thumbs down

The current Echo has its speedo and tach located centrally in the dashboard , a trend I personally dislike. This new car also has the high roofline of the Echo making it look ungainly.

I hope Toyota gets out of these styling habits before they're entire lineup look like mini SUVs.

    note to Kinan F.
The XA name is only for the Scion brand, and only for the U.s. In it's homeland, the car is called the Toyota Ist.

    regardless, it's weird.
