Cavallino Classic XXI: Classic Sports Sunday @ Mar-a-Lago

We've been very busy so once again skipped the receptions and Concours held at the Breakers. Instead, for the fifth time in 21 years we attended only the show and luncheon held Sunday at Mar-a-Lago. This event is growing and evolving, providing a unique format to display cars without a concours venue during the season. A wide variety of marques compete in several classes, all pre-1962. This year the feature marque was Aston Martin. I apologize for the small number of photos, especially individual shots of everything. Spent more time socializing than playing shutterbug.

Note the extraordinary Graber bodied Aston cab...

A few of the competition Ferraris that were brought... under their own power. Only one car was trailered to the event.

We entered our fresh 356S and were pleased and surprised by the enthusiastic response from both judges and audience.
Who says hotrods can't take home awards at a classic concours? Excellence in Sports, German... winner was a 300SL roadster.

    Excellent, congratulations!
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

Nice work! Can't say I'm surprised, it's a glorious machine.

Thank you guys, though honestly we were surprised to place... a small field for our class surely helped. Competition was several 300SLs and a '58 A Cabrio Carrera. There were truly glorious machines to drool over. My fave was this little tartlet Ferrari Spider (225S?), plus there was the stunning unrestored 340 Mexico. Lastly, I never tire of looking at 4-Cams... the engine in the Carrera.
