Looks like Paul di Resta will get a chance at Force India. It has been quite a year for the Franchitti clan with titles in Indy, ALMS and DTM.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

A bunch of cars got unveiled today, according to the cluster that is the F1Technical the buzz word this year will be whether teams uses push or pull rod for rear suspension....
For those keeping the score, this is what it looks like now:
Ferrari: Push
Sauber: Push(they use Ferrari powertrain and gearbox)
Renault: Pull
Lotus: Push(??, pics unclear)
Mercedes is unveiling tomorrow(their rendering doesn't show rear suspension), and McLaren might be running old car in the first test...
To recap 2011 rule, no more F-duct, DDD, and front driver adjustable wing. In their place, rear driver adjustable wing, KERS(is it more power now?), and Pirelli tire. Additionally more teams might be running some kind of hydraulically connected suspension(rumored was used by RBR last year).

Something else interesting, Renault is running their exhaust to the front of the sidepod(behind the turning vane on the side), essentially blowing the entire floor...

McLaren score added...lol
The sidepod deal is pretty clever....it'll be interesting to see which works better as I think most teams' approach of extreme "coke bottling" of the sidepod also achieves the same-ish result....

I think this is the appropriate thread for this, I apologize if it isn't, but the FIA is going to limit the use of the new moveable rear wings because they are afraid they will make passing too "commonplace and uninteresting."
Are they nuts?! The one thing F1 needs is more passing, how could passing become boring?
Link
F1 needs overtaking, not just passing. Not sure they meant this, though.
I think this is the biggest problem.Another fear is that chasing drivers will call off a genuine overtaking attempt on another part of the circuit in order to simply press the button in the designated 600-metre zone.
Every decision always carries "unintended consequences" and if this turns out to be one then F1 is dead if they retain the wing and rules that allow that.
SO I think the issue isn't overtaking or passing per se, but what it will mean to the rest of the racing. Seeing some negatives already they're sensibel to say now that they may change the regulations as they see how it turns out in real world racing.

Well they intend to adjust the rule as it evolves. I'm just interested to see how it works out....Don't forget also they have KERS this season also....
What I find much more interesting is how it'll work out in Practice/Qualifying, since they intend to let the functionality stay free to use in those session...

Ford Motor Co. filed a lawsuit Thursday against luxury sports car maker Ferrari S.p.A. and its American sales arm, accusing them of cyber piracy and misusing the F-150 name.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in response to Ferrari naming its new Formula 1 racing car the “F150.” (...) Ford claims the Italian company's name, spelled without a hyphen, is too close to the hyphenated one of the Ford F-150 pickup.
(...)
"We are simply speechless," a Ferrari spokesman told Automotive News Europe this morning in response to the lawsuit.
(...)
Terms of the suit
Ford wants a judge to block Ferrari from using the trademark in the U.S., according to the lawsuit filed with the United States District Court in Detroit. The ban would include importing, manufacturing or selling any F150 products in this country.
Ford also wants Ferrari to surrender any profits earned in the United States through the use of the F150 name, the lawsuit stated.
Under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, the U.S. automaker is also seeking $100,000 in damages. The act prevents the creation of website domain names that could confuse users about the products available.
(...)
Ferrari has just announced that the car will be called Ferrari 150th Italia...(and they add that F150 was never meant to be the intended name...)
Obviously their lawyers were quite pessimistic.

Just because last years Ferrari handled like a truck for most of the season there was no need to emulate one.
