I go with 3,4,2,1,5,6 that's my order of choice for american coolest cars. I vote for lincoln continental as my number one because I love seeing white colored cars, one of my fav color.

It's probably stretching it, but I'm going to consider Carroll Shelby's 427 Cobra an American car, even though it was originally a modified English car.

If not the Cobra, I think it could be any of the following:

    1930's Duesenberg Model J's
    1957 Chevrolet Belair
    1959 Cadillac Eldorado Seville
    1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda
    1980 Chevrolet Corvette
    1996 Dodge Viper GTS

Wasn't included in the thread by having recently posted it in the hideout the original Chevy Nomad should probably have been included too.

    this

Other than that, I'd have to say the 1970 Challenger R/T takes the cake.

Pretty sure that's a '71. '70 had a much nicer grill and Is one of my all time favourite cars aesthetically.

Rob, mistaken taste yet again! That mental hospital is waiting for you and Leon!

    See 1970:

Do you prefer the '70 or '71?

I don't like the grill on the '71 and things only got worse after that.

'68-'70 are my favorite years for American cars.

Oh I definitely agree with you, except in the case of the barracudas. '70 and on were their only good cars. Before then they weren't nearly as nice. E body vs. B body I think. As for the Challenger, I do prefer the '70, but I definitely don't mind the '71. I'd still buy one if the time and price was right.

Call me weird, but i think the '71 Dodge Dart Swinger is one of the coolest american cars ever made. I have no clear favorite (as there are so many good looking cars from that time), but i really liked the Dart. I thought about buying one until i found my Commodore.
BTW, i think the '70 Challenger looks better. Don't like the '71 grille that much.

I like both years. The compression ratio (except for the 340, 426-Hemi and 440-6 bbl) went from high- to low-compression in '71. Incidentally, some referred to the '71 as having a "cheese-grater" grille!

'68-'70 are my favorite years for American cars.
Interesting. Those are my favorites, too. 1969, then 1970, then 1968. I like 1966 a lot, too.
