GO HABS GO!
There's only one engine, and it's in the front. It's a 5-cylinder turbo Audi engine if I remember correctly. It took up too much space though, so they moved all the cooling equipement (etc) to the rear (fed by a large roof scoop).
The license number is funny: 2FST4U. Sounds like: Too Fast, STF^.

it supposed to be 2 fast 4 you,
Egg Nog you're right. The Golf is powered by the famous inline 5-cylinder from Audi. The same engine was used in their rally cars. A intresting thing is that the tuner, Hans Dahlbäck, has god connections with some Audi guys. A proof of that is that the car uses the same gearbox as the car Audi used when they competed in IMSA. The power of the car was never really tested apart from one time on a rolling testbed (don't know if it's the correct word, in swedish it's "rulland landsväg"). The car never reached its peak power because of the fact that the wheels started spinning over 5,500 rpm. A clue is that the engine gave 927 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm (683.63 ft/lb).
There are many Golf twin engines around the world.
The "official" Pikes Peak one for a start ...
And how about this one .....

There's a blue double-engined Golf that does the rounds in Britain, it's got 2 VR6s in it, 0-60 in 3.1, top speed was 175mph+ (the oil pipe broke on it before they could do anymore )
I believe the golf R32 has two engines as well, one for the front and one for the rear wheels
By the way, those are nice car...
What "R32" do you mean ?Originally Posted by skafdude
The stock R32 is a V6 FWD.

no, the stock R32 is a VR6 (not really an V6, not really inline6), and it is AWD.Originally Posted by Matra et Alpine

The R32 is the same engine as the VR6 but mated with the 4MOTION drive.
Sorry for the brain fart

Its not exactly the same engine... the vr6 is a 2,8L and the R32 a 3,2L
I thought it was the same engine just bored out ?Originally Posted by quattro_20v
