    Rate Your Town

    Time for another poll... rate your town.
    I got some of the categories from a book called "Sunbelt Retirement."
    Ratings are 0-10 (0= poor; 10= excellent)
    You should be able to find your town's population on Wikipedia.

    Here are the ratings for my town...

    I dont see what fog has to do with anything, I live in a valley so we have fog all the time. I think that should maybe be changed to smog

    Only walled city in NorthAmerica IIRC...

    Scenery & views----------------- big fat 0, we have a cornfield next to our house and that's what passes for scenery
    Crowds-------------------------- 2 (population down 20% in 20 years)

    Housing expense----------------- 10 (we bought a 1500 sq ft ranch house on 1/2 acre for $69,000)
    Cost of living--------------------- 9 (the economy is in the toilet so everything's cheap here)

    Population------------------------ not sure. would be near 1 million counting the shires etc etc. i live on the south eastern side, near the bay.
    Elevation------------------------- wouldn't be much over sea level.

    Crowds-------------------------- 5, pretty good.
    Medical availability--------------- 9
    Housing expense----------------- depends on suburb. generally good except the southerners keep moving up here

    Special senior citizen services----- 8 - probably good but don't care.

    Police & fire protection------------ 7 fire is good, police might as well be special ed kids in uniforms

    Most-liked features---------------- access to beach, climate, atmosphere
    Least-liked features--------------- needs more rain atm
    Trivia----------------------------- probably best city to live in if you have a rotary.

    Yes, less people. But not to the extreme... a town of 20 people would be kind of slow and boring.

    Trivia----------------------------- Home to Camp Merritt during WWI and rumoured that George Washington and his troops marched through 'Washington Ave' during the Dutch settlement days when the town was referred to as Schraalenberg.
