    CX-9 For What Car?

Well, My fam and I decided to trade the CX-9 for a smaller car. Preferrably a sedan. Personally, I don't like the A3 simply because it is almost as big as the CX-9 (in terms of width)
    Budget: $40,000
Considered List: Audi A3 2.0 TFSI Premium w/ no Quattro (built price:$32,150)
Lexus IS 250 AWD (built price: $32,145)
For some reason, BMW (specifically the 3-Series) is out of the question...

Any more suggestions would be fine, but take note of the budget. Also, we can talk about what any said car's advantage has over the other said car; a car comparison, obviously.

Here's a sub-topic that may help: What do you think is the best sedan or hatchback for under $40,000?

    Thanks, UCP.

Subaru: too common here. Infinity G37? Hmmm...
    I'll put that into consideration.

The G37 sedan that I'm looking at right now is priced at $33,250. Not bad.

The Datsun is a good choice, and the BMW should be considered too.

    Audis should be avoided altogether.

If you don't need the practicality, maybe the Passat CC?

And it that doesnt have the luxury you want, look at the m37 as well. More expensive, but much more exclusive in my opinion.

And Mom is already at the Audi dealership (I'm somewhere else) to look at the A3. Its starting to dawn in on me that the A3 is inevitable.
Shit. Another wasted purchase. How long do you think it's going to be before we trade THIS one in...?

Surprisingly, you guys didn't mention the Lexus IS that is in my list. Could the IS 250 be worst than the A3?

In my opinion the IS isn't worse than the A3, just not interesting. Like the Audi.

Also, strange that there were a lot of D-segment saloons considered but it seems like you'll end up with a C-segment hatchback.

If your out looking for an audi and your budget is 40 grand why not bump up to an a4, its certainly more practical and the base is just 3 grand up from the a3. With options on the a3 your already in a4 money.

I like Lexus, but for the price the is250 is too money much compared to the audi, you do get a bulletproof car though.

If you want a good car thats well equipped for the money and is basically a lexus with a common badge you should consider the Toyota Avalon limited. You get a bigger car, it costs the same as an is250, you have a more powerful and bigger engine. It will probably be cheaper to insure and maintain. Its certainly not slow. You've got a 6 speed auto too. It something you should consider. With the top packages on both cars they come out just under budget, with tax I'm not sure though. This is for the 2011 Avalon Limited and the 2010 Lexus is250 auto. They don't have any trd or F-sport extras.

Note: Look at original images at their original size.

Late to the party, but I have to suggest the CTS.

also I made the build for the is250 in rwd because a new one in awd with options will put you well over your 40k budget.

    Maybe he doesn't want options.

Forgot the CTS, but I would also suggest it.

    Now I'm suggesting the CTS...
    All in favor for CTS?

    My 100th post. Great job!
