I'm not sure how I feel about a big block Chevy being stuffed in place of that wonderful Ferrari V-8...

And who would use a Ferrari 288GTO in the first place? Or why even a Ferrari?!

was this GTO originally a write off or something before they cut it up?

I'm a speed demon and all. But that is just retarded. It's one of the rarest Ferraris out there and this idiot gave it 2,000+ horsepower.

Wow, guys share some love, it takes alot of work making a block put out 3000 Horsepower and go 275MPH.

Most people would put that in a chevelle or a camaro, but in a Ferrari? Kind of bizarre, and I must say wrong, especially in one as rare as a 288 GTO, but, come on, it does 275MPH.

I can give him credit for taking 3,000 horsepower from a big block but just not for using a Ferrari 288 GTO. Maybe if it was an F430 or a 575 Maranello. Just it was a bad choice of car.

    Two issues:

    1. If a real 288 GTO was used for this there's a special place in hell for them. But it's Norwood (J. Patterson), so who knows?

    2. Claiming "fastest Ferrari in the world" is specious. Chevy power makes it something else.

Oh wait, a Ferrari dealer can call it what they want.

I admire any effort, engineering and otherwise, required for LSR attempts at every level and class. Physics is uncompromising; both in design and the conditions of a record attempt, there are edges of the envelope that get harder to explore for each successive attempt.
As most are probably aware, these guys are well known in Ferrari and extreme performance circles and Norwood Performance holds several LSR records, including with pure Ferrari machines. There's a reason they chose this approach for BFMS (blown fuel modified sports)... and the speed is impressive.

Not being familiar with the entire SCTA rulebook doesn't diminish my antipathy for the claim of "fastest Ferrari", though.

Perhaps the Chevy engine had much more torque?

If its a 308 with a 288 bodykit and a Chevy lump, I'm not complaining. Not a Ferrari, but 275 mph is pretty badass! If it is actually a butchered 288, and it wasn't damaged beyond repair in an accident prior to this modification, someone should pay with their soul for an act of such incredible sacrilege! This isn't sacrificing an Enzo to create the P4/5, an incredible and inspired confluence of design and technology taken to the nth degree, but the desecration of an historically significant machine to create something that could be dressed in JC Penny instead of Armani! A true 288 with these modifications is like giving Charlize Theron the full Heidi Montag "beauty" treatment! You just can't improve on perfection... And in Heidi's case, you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear...
