Following the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans

Okay, so this is going to sound really stupid, but for someone who is a complete noob at following racing at all, how does one even follow it? I am aware that it is just one race in a series of races.

Thanks.

FS1, FS2, and FS Go have the coverage this year in the States. I am not sure what the deal will be in Canada.

Tons of illicit streams pop up around race time as well. Shhh!

You can also follow the race on Live Timing and Radio Le Mans audio.

Eurosport on the telly, if you have acces to it somewhat.

You can play for their live Internet player.

EDIT By the way, can't wait for this year's race.

There's usually a stream to find via google if it's not on tele near you.

In terms of actually following what's going on while you're watching a stream, a live timing page is golden. It will actually let you know what order the cars are in, who's winning what class (and how many cars of higher classes they are also ahead of on track) and so on. It is part of the WEC series (right?) but it's also its own race, with a bunch of entrants that are not in the rest of the series.

Any queries through the race, ask them on the thread on here, I'm sure some of us will be checking in throughout the weekend!

Thanks for all the suggestions, school just got crazy again, but I'll see if I can look into a few of those sources.

Free practice currently underway. Porsches are currently 1st, 3rd and 6th and Audis 2nd, 4th and 8th. Toyota would've gone faster with a Yaris and Nissans have all broken down.

Tonight qualifying will take place.

First qualifying session already started. Currently a Porsche one-two-three, with the three Audis behind. The Japanese are nowhere to be seen. Astons are leading the GT classes.

By the way, the fastest Porsche has already dropped to the 3:16s. To put that into perspective, the fastest lap ever at La Sarthe was 3:13.90 (done by Pedro Rodriguez in 1971 at the wheel of a Porsche 917) when there were no chicanes in Mulsanne.

First qualifying session finished and nothing has changed. The fastest Nissan is 12th, more than 20 seconds slower than the fastest Porsche.

Boy, they definitely have work to do.

Sounds like it might be time for Nissan to go with plan B...

This won't be Nissan's year. The issue is this: are they so far behind, and is their design so flawed, that the won't compete throughout the course of their program?

They've had quite a lot of problems with the hybrid part and are running a car that's down on power and two wheel drive (should be four wheel drive if everything worked). Certainly they won't do anything this year, but if they can get the car to work who knows in 2016. The concept is interesting and it's part of what makes endurance racing so special.

By the way, pretty much nothing changed on yesterday's qualifying sessions. The only relevant event was that Jan Magnussen crashed the #63 Corvette in the Porsche curves and the car was damaged so badly that it has been withdrawn from the race. The driver is OK.

Nissan will come out on Monday with a statement saying something along the lines of 'this is a development year so we never expected to be on top so we're not too disappointed but it would have been nicer to be a bit closer to the leading Audis and Porches, good on them for [the results], we'll be back next year'.

Hopefully they will actually be back, where the engine/driveline goes we'll find out...

Apparently it's at least a two year programme, so 2016 should be guaranteed.
