    IMHO

germany, Porsche's race heritage is the biggest in the world, remember we are talking road cars, and porsche as won more gt races than any other.

Japan- the NSX has the best chassis in the world, i mean, keeping the pace in a track with an F50 and a 911 GT2 with a lot less power is really impressive. it as the best gearbox i've ever driven, and i've driven one of the first models, i can´t imagine how the gearbox is now! The Nissan Skyline, another great car born out of GT racing, i didn't get CDOZ's comment, a mustang beating a Skyline? if they where racing down a pinetree i'd believe it!

Italy- for the monstruous and outrageous looking supercars

Britain- Becoming stronger and stronger in sports cars and supercar building, i mean, TVR rules, Aston martin, Lotus, real driver's cars.

    Just my opinion

Well if we're going to go by sports and luxury...

Luxury: 1. America, 2. Germany (really only applies to Mercedes)
Sports: 1. Italy, 2. Germany (honorable mention to America though for the muscle cars, not really true sports cars but eh)
An it harm none, do as ye will

Approximately 79% of statistics are made up.

isnt warsaw in russia, and fiat from italy?
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

The world raced cars for 50 years before Porsche came on the scene.
I'd not be so sure of that statement

    WHat cars are eligible ?
For example March chassis dominated FF1600, F2 and F3 for a decade. CLub races EVERY weekend with full grids ? So probably one of them
I tihnk you ahve to be more slective on types of races but then it becomse biased - ie Porsche dont' come in the top 20 in rally companies

it's most liekly to turn out to be Ford !! Given the number of Model T specials there were racing back in the 20s

Lukehow youve really got no clue do you.....

Firstly, OF COURSE Australian cars are years behind German cars, no shit there mate. Theyre also alot cheaper and better suited for Australian conditions so are far better value to the average Aussie family. Ford COULD make the Falcon to rival the 5 Series and E Class dynamically and engineering wise, but they'd be charging $50K for their base model cars, rather than $35K.

I dont know where your getting your info on the Territory though. Ford benchmarked E265 against the X5 during its 5 year development. Logical decision really, as the X5 had the best on road dynamics for an SUV at the time. Nothing to do with BMW really. Ford Australia basically done the car by themselves, they were halfway through development before Detroit even knew what was going on, and when they saw the 40% clay models, they shifted development of the Freestyle to better reflect the more SUV-like styling of the Territory.

People have compared the car more to Honda's MDX than the X5 as far as looks go, and some local journo's have actually said they ride better than the X5's we've been getting, especially on dirt.

i dont see an american beating a Maybach, unless you are talking of a drivers luxury car, but why would you buy a luxury to drive it?

Lets think about this for a moment.

A entry specced V8 Jaguar XJ is $194,000 NZ.

A Fully loaded, 6.0l LS/2 Holden Grange is a bit over 90 grand

Not only is the Grange less than half the price, its got more options, more power, and loooooooooads more spare parts available cheaper. Its what you pay for a badge, but in Aussie and NZ HSV is a well respected badge anyway. And i'd be willing to bet theres alot more room inside a Grange than a Jag.

And remember this car is a even better version of the car the Australian government rides in.
