I have a vague recollection of "The Racers" being good, but even I was young at the time.
    Dang, VHS only ...

One of Rooney's better "B" flicks, the whole thing is on YouTube:

The "Ferrari" team story line with Lee J. Cobb as il Commendatore sometimes fails, but the cars and great racing footage make up for it.

Almost forgot "Bobby Deerfield", perhaps memorable only because of the Brabham-Alfa with the "tranny-cooling" fan.

Good list of movies... I think you might want to add the early Herbie movies... they feature a bunch of cool old race cars. The beginning of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang also has some vintage racing footage. Also, since everyone loves the Bond cars, shouldn't the list include Bond movies? One more classic - THX 1138, George Lucas' first film, which feature a Lola T70 Mk3.

An old and forgotten movie 'Genevieve' took place during the London to Brighton run for veteran cars, If you like Pre WWI cars a good movie to watch, very entertaining actors too. There's also an early David Brown Aston Martin, officially they were called the 2 liters, Unofficially they are now known as DB1s.

2 Elvis movie 'Spinout' and 'Viva Las Vegas'

Spinout contains a Duesenberg, a couple of Cobras, a Balchowsky Ol' Yeller, an Elva M1A Mclaren, Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Cabriolet II.

'Viva Las Vegas' has Cobras, Ol' Yaller, Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta, Maserati Tipo 63 (birdcage), Maserati 450S

"Redline 7000" a movie about 1960's NASCAR, contains a Shelby GT350 as well as a Shelby Cobra Daytona coupe, that one I believe belong to Phil Spector.

Not a car movie, but if you're into two-wheeled porn, give On Any Sunday a watch if only to see vintage motocross bikes.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

Gotta love Vanishing Point, which was a hazy drugged-out slide into ultimate protest.
Some nice cars, though probably lost on the "Fast & Furious" set due to lack of adornment.

For a chase scene, Terminator Two's big-rig vs. big bike was pretty cool...

Here are a few more classics for you:

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) starring Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges, and George Kennedy. You have a Trans-Am, Buick Riveria, James Dean Merc, and a late Caddy Eldorado.

Tin Men (1987) starring Richard Dryfuss and Danny DeVito. Hey it's after 185, but it's set in the early 60s with Caddy's as the car of choice. Check it out if you have'nt already.

Thunder Road (1958) starring Robert Mitchum. Typical moonshiners delight with late model Fords and early fifties hot rod iron used as ''runners.''

The Seven-Ups (1973) starring James Brolin. 10-minute car chase involving one full-size Pontiac, and the Nova-clone Ventura.

The Lively Set (year? who can say?) starring James Darren, Pamela Tiffen and McClure. 50s cool; drag racing, girls, and bravado. Model T's and A-V8's. What more do you want?

The California Kid (1974) starring Martin Sheen and Vic Marrow. 50's scenery backdrop, a flamed '34, and a very mean 58 Plymouth killer.

The Speed Lovers (circa '65) starring real-life NASCAR driver ''Goldenboy'' Fast Freddie Lorenzen. Typical mid-sities stock car racing movie, with the beach-boy play-set.

Running on Empty (year?) Street racing movie.

Moonshine County Express (1977) starring John Saxtom, Susan Howard, and William Conrad. Women, shine musclecars, and bad acting. Doh!

Hot Rods To Hell (1967) starring Dana Andrews and Jeanne Crain. Dull movie but, it's Hollywood's idea of 50s / 60s car culture & hoodlums.

Hot Rod Girls (1956) starring Lori Neson, Chuck Connors, and John Smith. Pure 50's Americana. you see a T-Bird, Olds, A-V8's, and 50's drag racing / canyon racing.

Hot Rod (1979) Street racing & drag racing. 65 Plymouth, 69 Olds Cutlass, and 40's hot rods.

Fireball 500 (1966) starring Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, and Fabain. NASCAR, Modifieds, and Dragsters.

Fear IsThe key (1972) starring Barry Newman. Cross-country car chase in 1972 Ford Torino Gran Sport. Go baby!

There are lots more movies out there. You can catch many n You Tube. Most are dull plotted scenarios with equally bad acting but you see lots of car racing action and that's whay these movies are about. I have a mile-long list that I will dig out and post. You decide what is good and bad.

Don't know if this one has been mentioned or not: Death Race starring Jason Statham, has some pretty good racing in it, as well as a range of cars, from Mustangs to Porsches and even trucks.
