I found it time to start over with my Sim Setup, some changes to my gear (from Logitech to Fanatec) and some new wishes and ideas where the perfect excuse to start over

old setup:

Logitech G25
Sparco Sprint V
Samsung Syncmaster 225BW

Not to bad, but some modifications made it less "appealing" then i wished.

New Setup:

First change was the switching of monitors, from 1x22inch and 1x19inch, to 2x 24 inch Samsung 2494HM monitors. Hdmi In was very important for me.

Then Forza 3 was released, which really made me want to buy an Xbox 360 and the imo only good wheel for the X360 which was the Fanatec Turbo S.

unfortunatly my G25 pedals where hardmounted to the extreme, so i couldnt use the Clubsport pedals.. YET

i fell in love with the fanatec products, so a GT3RS was soon added to the setup.

Now the real fun began. Bought an SLi-M and made a casing for it. Out of a Refrigderator case

After the Sli-M it was time to go further and make my sim as awesome as i wanted it to be.. So i ordered the Frex Sequential shifter and Handbrake.

The most important part of using the frex parts, was that i wanted to use them in all games, and on all consoles. The frex shifter and handbrake had to be connected to the Fanatec wheels in order for them to work on all consoles and pc. This was actually rather easy, an adapter for using the frex shifter on the standard ps2 female plug in the wheel was easily made, and the handbrake button was quite easily done by hardwiring it by soldering it to the B button of the Turbo S/GT3RS wheel.

you can see me testing the handbrake with the standard sequential shifter here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAiWEkYV5vI]YouTube - My Fanatec Modifications[/ame]

by that time i also acquired another Turbo S wheel, so i could switch the GT3RS rim, and i got myself a GT3RS steeringwheel with Turbo S functions. GT3RS wheel = Racecars, Turbo S wheel = Streetcars

Designing the Sim itself was the next step, first on the pc

then in reallife

This is the sim without sidepods, with the old sim it was build as one whole, but i wanted to make it alot easier to change things and maintain my gear, so now it exists out of 4 parts (part beneath desk, sidepod left, sidepod right and the floorplate with the seat and pedals.)

placed the desk part, you can easily see the subwoofer and the ability to adjust it from the top

placed desk back

Mounted the GT3RS Turbo S, Clubsport pedals and my Seat. Under the seat came a little gadget called "Buttkicker Gamer 2" If you look underneath the monitor you can spot the sli-m

after that the Frex shifter/handbrake finally arrived:

testing the position of frex parts

and made the frex sidepod

You can see a large gap next to the Handbrake, this is where i want to make a button box For the time being however i temporarily covered the sidepod with black cardboard which doesnt look half bad actually, but when the buttonbox is placed i will finish it off nicely in black paint.

And this is how it is currently working

So my current setup is:

Sparco Sprint V
Samsung Syncmaster 2494HM
Fanatec Turbo S
Fanatec GT3RS "Turbo S"
Fanatec Clubsport Pedals
Frex Shift+
Frex Hbrake+
Buttkicker Gamer 2
Leo Bodnar Sli-M

Wishlist:

Buttonbox
sidepod with Fanatec 6speed h-shifter and sequentiall shifter changed as handbrake.

Everything works perfectly (except for sli-m which only works on pc) on all gaming systems (PS3/Xbox360/PC)

Hope you enjoyed the read
