I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
Maybe they should declare Peugeot winners, since they were so much better than Audi...
Except for doing the most laps, but who cares about that isignificant detail.

1-2-3 if they didn't crash early on and the wheel nut stayed on. Hell, even if the other Peugeot was in the race, it may have been an Audi 1-2-3.

I'm sure you understand the difference between the terms Winner and Moral Winner.
It's amazing how ill-informed people are. Don't you read our reports on the Le Mans Series? Winning at Le Mans first time out is virtually impossible, especially with these highly complex racing cars. How people got the idea that Peugeot were favourites is what I don't get.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

I know the difference. But you're insisting about it in such a way that leads me to believe that you think Peugeot was so much better than Audi, and that Audi's victory was totally unfair and undeserved. I didn't expect Peugeot to win, altough I wanted them to, but Audi just did better, no matter the difference in budgets, in time spent racing and testing, in the number of cars entered or in the driver line ups. Audi won, and everything else are details which in truth are not that important.
It's like the 1969 Le Mans 24h. Yes, the difference between the winning car and the second placed Porsche 908 was the smallest ever (about 120 metres) and yes Porsche came tantalaisingly close to their first overall win. But that race is remembered as the last win for the GT40 and the first for Jacky Ickx, not the race that Porsche nearly won in a car that had a 1700cc smaller engine than the Ford. And it was a lot closer than this year's race.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
