I dont think so man. Its got 2 RR jet engines. The Ferrari might acclerate faster but not to speed wise.

Actually it doesn't beat the truck in any way (Acceleration/Top Speed)

The 1/4 Mile of the truck is 7secs @ 200Mph.

Aerodynamics don't mean a whole lot when you got that much power. On TLC they showed a 16 ton semi-truck from the 50's with a quad turbo diesel V-12 that did 300 at Bonneville!

This was a truck with one V-12 with four turbos, or (I think) a truck with four V-12s?

this is a bad poll. Technically, the answer to the poll should lean towards the fire truck. However, we all know the F430 will own it in ANY corner. Instead of asking straight up "Which is faster?" ask "Which is faster in a drag?" or "Which is faster on a track?"

Sorry, it was a trick question...

...to get this exact response. Most of you are absolutely correct! Faster is dependent on lots of factors not just straight-line speed. Yes the jet-powered truck is technically faster, as it does the 1/4 mile in the 7s at 200 mph and has a top speed in excess of 400 mph. But what good is power without control, good on paper but virtually useless otherwise. For this reason, performance cars try to reach the perfect balance between handling and straight-line performance. The test for their competence is the race track.

Some get a handling advantage by being very light weight. Basic physics: it's easier/takes less force to change speed/direction of a lighter object. They're fast only because their power-to-weight ratio is great, not because of great power. Cars like the Lotus Elise.

Then there are cars like the Porsche Carrera GT, powerful to the extreme. Although, weight is the enemy, ultimate performance demands some extra weight. At the cost of being heavier, their designers have calculated that the recipe for success is in overpowering the laws of physics not just trying to evade them. It's a pretty good bargain as they have the advantage in most situations or racecourses, other than the extremely crooked courses. They accomplish this by working their parts very hard. The engine has to make a lot of hp, the chassis has to be strong enough to handle the power, and the brakes have to be just that much better for the heavier weight.

A particular track becomes a test and the different cars its test-takers. Who does best at a particular tract shows what that car was ultimately designed for and how it stacks up against its closest competition. So the fastest cars have the best balance of go&turn. The straighter tracks favor the more powerful cars and the most convoluted, the lightest handlers. The worst tracks are oval as they only demand that the car have 2 wheels on the right side and a powerful enough engine to run 200 mph, not much of a test!

Who cares? The JetFireTruck can't be driven on anything but a drag strip (by a trained driver) and the F430 is a very fast STREET LEGAL car. You might as well compare the F430 to the Space Shuttle.
