    Wicked Engine Swap Idea

Is it just me, or would it totally rock to replace the 100hp inline-3 in the Dodge Slingshot concept with the SRT-4 engine? That thing weighs less than 800kg to begin with.

I hope they end up producing that car. If they do, this is bound to happen. With the added weight of the bigger engine, the result is still about 340bhp/tonne. That engine also has a lot of potential.

That's about the same power/weight ratio of a Ferrari 430
    Would be truly awesome.

That would be a really fun car. Is the slingshot RWD or FWD? It couldn't be AWD, could it?

It's RWD, a SRT-4 would be amazing in a car of its size. When are they going to put these into production?

it is mid engined, with a transverse engine isn't it? Would the Subaru boxer also fit?

With it being so light that would give it great handling.

With proper suspension and tires its like a shifter gocart. My dads friend has one, and its quite the "hold on for your life" ride around a track, so so fast.

As the Slingshot looks alike a Smart rip-off then why not just make the move and get a Z-cars Smart http://www.smartsrus.com/evil_twin_z-cars.htm

    twin-bike-engines so astounding power-to-weight

These loonies at Z-Cars have now fitted one of their twin bik engines into an Ultima giviing 1020bhp/ton That is 30% increase over the recent record winning Ultima. They haven't put it up for any independant tests yet, but I can't wait to see it

How so? The slingshot is rear-engined - And the Srt-4 engine has about the same power as an s2000 (and waaay more torque ).

I wouldn't be surprised if this thing could pop a wheelie after a swap like this, if it had some nice sticky rubber. - The only real problem is weight distribution.

well........for one, im not such a huge fan of such small cars. they are cool, but if you get hit.......all the metal around will will not do much except turn into razorblades to tear you up, especially if hit by an suv.......but if I wasnt gonna be the owner, id have to say that IS a very cool idea!
