Not sure if the WMP 88 should be included, because all the air ducts were taped off and shortly after reaching its record speed the engine broke.

F1 cars, as already included on this list can hit over 400 if they are set up for pure speed, and this was only done when Honda took it to Bonneville.
What's a top-fuel dragsters doing at the end of a 1/4 mile these days...500 KPH plus is less than 5 seconds!
the fastest electric car is 325 mph called the Buck Eyed Bullet
Forget it, this is outdated, F1 no longer has a 3 liter V10. The output of those were not 830 hp. In the last years the best teams could reach 910-920 hp, though Honda reached 965 and 1000 hp on the season's last races.
IRL is usually faster than Champ Car, the latter uses circuits as well, IRL runs on ovals mostly (maybe I'm wrong). An IRL webpage would show it the other way.
NASCAR cars can go beyond 200 mph, they already reached about 220, though not 248.

Thank you for this info. I've found also an unofficial Indy500 record - 239,260 mph = 385,05 kph. And it was also Arie Luyendyk in Reynard/Ford Cosworth on 5/10/96. But it is hard to find any info about top speed... Either way it looks like the 400 kph was propably crossed...
And some interesting news: Weber supercar will debut at Top Marques Monaco 2007 in April. Well, well, well... Soon the 400+ cars will be countless...

How come they made the phenoix badge look so similar to the Pontiac Firebird badge? I mean they are just about spot on exact.
example.
TVR Pontiac
"Horsepower sells motor cars, but torque wins motor races."
-Carrol Shelby
When I wrote "Soon the 400+ cars will be countless... " I meant all street/race cars at all.
Of course very few of them really reached 400+ kph, but it can soon change. For example: SSC Ultimate Aero TT will be attempting to brake speed record in May. And I think all the others such Saleen, Barabus or Bristol will try to prove their top speeds (or someone else will do it for them ...

I have found some "new" cars (first post at first page was updated) - there are two Auto Unions there, similar to Mercedes-Benz W154 and W125:
Auto Union 6.0 L Class B (1937) - 406 kph / 252 mph
Auto Union 6.5 L Class B (1938) - 430 kph / 267 mph
Maybe someone got pitures of this car?
And one more: Diablos! There is very interesting Diablo by German tuner Gemballa. French moto magazine was testing this car (900 bhp!) in 1999, reaching 410 kph! There is also Diablo by Koenig Specials - 800 bhp. But there's no single word about top speed - maybe someone of you knows anything about it?
There is also Mercedes-Benz T80 prototype from 1939 year. Quite scary car! 2,210 kW, speed estimated at between 550-750 km/h (340-465 mph). But it was never tested - outbreak of the war prevented it. T80 was planned to be driven over a special stretch of the Dessau Autobahn (now part of the modern A9 Autobahn), but it can't be treated as street/track car I think... Maybe I'll notice it in the others...
AUTO UNION EDIT: Some sources says that it was Auto Union Type C Streamline and not Auto Union Class B... And it looks like it's true...

I looked through the listings but you omitted the Pontiac Bonneville AXB edition.
Clocked at 418 kph at Nardo I believe.
Thank you for info. Have you got any details of this car? I cannot find a word about it in the web...
