    upgrading Lotus Elise to the 2-eleven

    Does anyone know how to order the pieces for the 2-eleven supercharger / intercooler, pipes and brackets? I want to fit my 2005 Lotus elise with it.

    It would help if you'd mentioned where you live, as the response rather depends on it - no use me recommending a local specialist if it turns out that you live on the other side of the planet...

    I'd think that contacting your nearest dealer (http://lotuscars.com/), or an owners club for advice, etc. would seem the best course of action.

    The South of England.

    If the dealer isn't interested, I'd find a Lotus owner's forum and see if anyone can either recommend an independent garage that could source the parts and carry out the work, or suggest some alternatives if that is not possible.

    Pistonheads have a "Lotus in the USA" section.

    i also dont know, but webb motorsports in colorado tune up some lotuses, so thy may have some insight into it.

    From what I can see from the photos of the 2-Eleven I doubt very much whether it would be feasible to put the supercharger/intercooler into an Elise. If you look at the engine bay pics you can see the intercooler and all the various plumbing etc sits aft of the engine, directly above the exhaust. As you will be well aware, that is where the Elise's trunk is. To fit the s/c kit as it is on the 2-Eleven would require reworking the whole rear end of the car from a basic structure/layout point of view, and it may also involve adapting the whole rear clamshell to make everything fit inside. It's not simply a case of buying the relevant components and getting a mechanic to bolt them on, it will require a hell of a lot more work than that, and will likely be extremely costly.

    If you're really that keen on upping the power of your Elise then there are a few other options out there which will probably work out a lot cheaper. One of the first companies to experiment with boosting the Toyota engined Elises was actually from the States, a company called ForcedFed. They have a few different turbo packages listed on their site - http://www.forcedfed.com/elise/turbokits.html

    2-eleven and Force Fed

    I contacted ForcedFed a few months ago. They want around $24,000.00 US for the upgrade, which also includes the clutch and limited slip diferential. I might do the upgrade this fall. I'm in "fishing" mode right now, just curious as to what all the possibilities are. There is a SC kit in Southern Cal that a fellow named Frank has put in that works really well too. He gets 253 hp at the rear wheels.

    What I'd really like is a 10000 rpm engine that has little twin turbos and a wild second cam that puts out about 450 hp on 92 octane. That would push the Elise along just about right.

    Although the Elise is lighting fast in the quarter, given it's horsepower, the problem with the Elise is that it lays down above 105 mph. Even a car like a Chevy Cobalt SS can keep up with it from 105 to 120 mph. I like to feel launched at that speed like a porche 911 turbo would.

    I'm worried that even a 250 hp motor just won't cut it in the higher speed range. Just not enough punch to fight against all that wind resistance.

    Lotus just isn't interested in upgrades for the US market. It's a shame. So, I'm just fishin' for some leads.

    Personally you risk ruining the handling of the car in seeking out so much power.
    So what if someone is faster from 110 -120mph ? You spend MUCH more time roasting them in the 10-80 and on the twisties

    i like the car, but yellow and orange aren't the best colors for the lotus...maybe a dark blue or a deep forest green...
    that would be much better

    but the images are awesome

    dan007 - Go to your local tuner shop- US spec Lotuses use Toyota Celica/MR2 engines, but I wouldn't recommend doing anything too extreme or you'll have something like a GT40 - very unstable at high speeds.
