V8 Supercars: Round 8 Oran Park, NSW

Tomorrow is the last round before the Sandown and Bathurst endurance races and everyone seems set to find an advantage going into the high attrition races. 2x140km races will be raced tomorrow with 2002 series champ Mark Skaife on pole position. With Skaife not having won a round since last years Sandown event with Todd Kelly and the first round last year by himself, one would think somethings bound to end him luck from starting on pole. with the top 4 drivers in the championship seperated by 25 points, anyone of them having a dud round could possibly be out of the running for the rest of the year, whilst Russel Ingall is hoping for some luck of his own, sitting at 5th and only just within a rounds worth of points of the series leader Jason Bright.

i only caught the first 7 lap of the 1st race, but it was enough for me to change my mind about oran park being the next track to be taken off the calender to make way for an international round like dubai. just seeing the cars going through the last couple of corners with those undulations makes it all clear as to why they say this is the best spectators circuit in the country

yeah but the only thing is, Ambrose isnt fighting skaife for championship positions, hes got bright to worry about that, richards and kelly will probably come away from bathurst out of form.

it should be interesting for sandown and bathurst though, im hoping that SBR put greg ritter with ambrose as they'll need the better driver since HRT are putting todd and mark together

Remember that Rick Kelly is the defending Bathurst champion. The Murphy/Kelly combo will start Bathurst as one of the top 5 teams. Ambrose needs consistentency in both enduros. He can't afford a DNF.
UCP's biggest Ford Sierra RS500 and BMW M3 E30 fan. My two favourite cars of all time.

Although Jason Bright hasn't had much luck in previous years at bathurst I think he's the man to watch, he's had alot of speed this year and obviously consistancy, hance the championship lead, im sure he would have done better at Oran if it wasn't for the mysterious jammed throttle.

Im a Big Murph fan but I have to say I think Brighty's going to be tough to beat.
UCP's Biggest Murph Fan, dont tell him though, he might think im a bit gay.

Thats me and Murph on the left. Im the taller one.

theres no question about Kmart's endurance pair, although it certainly looked like last year murphy was carrying the pair, whilst this year kelly might have that job. the benefit of sandown and bathurst though is the points are alot closer, i think the points buffer is changed to 4 points per place from the usual 6, so a big drop in positions doesnt hurt as much.
