Super Showdown

Been seeing a lot of comparos between the Z06, F430, Gallardo and 997 Turbo doing the rounds.

Thought we might as well do this the right way and have a grand comparo.

So, here's the rivals:

Aston Martin V8 Vantage
BMW M6 (let's pretend it's not limited to 155mph)
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe
Ferrari F430
Ford GT
Lamborghini Gallardo
Maserati GranSport
Mercedes SL55 AMG (same as the BMW, let's pretend it's not limited)
Porsche 997 Turbo


I'm not posting prices or power figures. Frankly, if you don't know the figures for these cars by now you probably don't belong on UCP...

I did include an M6 in the comparo, not an M5...

And I know there's many more cars I could've included, but the majority I saw on the net usually went no further than a Z06, 997, F430, Viper, Gallardo and GT. I decided to spice it up just a bit more, but not too much. Wanted to keep it mainstream, and at about the 400-ish to 550bhp mark (that's why there's no SL65 and the like). Come to think of it, I probably could've included the new XKR, but honestly, who'd choose that above a V8 Vantage?

If you have another car in mind, just list it in your reply, no problem.

I personally will vote for the Ford GT, I think the car is really well balanced. It has everything for me the neck wrenching acceleration the 200+ top speed the remarkable lines. I believe that this car or the Viper would be the most fun to own but thats just my opinion. If I couldnt have that obviously I would have the Viper, I plead guilty to being in love with the beast.

Because then we'd have two Astons. Not a bad thing maybe, but this way I thought it'd be more fair since some Aston fans would've gone for the DB9 and the others for the AMV8, robbing votes from eachother. In hindsight though, I probably should have opted for the DB9 instead of the AMV8, especially in this company. Maybe even the DBS or Vanquish, then again that's probably in a class higher up...

Why not just put the SL65 AMG. We know the SL55 being a roadster doesn't help it against cars like that. The SL65 would be much better imo.

That's a good point actually. I originally wanted to add the CLK63 AMG, it being a coupe and all, but then thought "nah, let's just add the SL55". But you're right, the SL65 would've been a better option. Only thing I was afraid of when going that route was then having people say "Why didn't you add the 599" and "why no Murcielago" and so forth.

Wanted to keep this limited to the smaller guns, not all out war

The Ford GT because its a true super car. The F430 and the G-car might be more refined but If i wanted refinement Id buy a Bently CGT. The 997 looks like the 996 with a body kit and the Gallardo is just not agressive enough for my taste. The Z06 would be another choice for me on a limited budget its an animal.
