"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
What is the reasoning behind that? Lighter smaller wheels?
That's not really a surprise to me, 2 of the cars in my family still have 4 lug wheels.
Auto shows don't have the same draw that it used to for me. The NYIAS used to have so many freebees you'd walk out hands full with posters and such.
Concept cars aren't really concept cars either now, they're just preproduction cars.
Last time I went they locked out the Porsches so you couldn't sit in them. Ferrari has inexplicably never had presence there unless an independent booth brings one and I've been going on and off since 2004 or so.
One surprising thing I did see last year though was McLaren being there, although that might have been a local dealer too.
I think the coolest thing at the auto show now are all the older cars downstairs in the basement.
Yep. It also opens them up to all the wheels that Japanese cars have been using for decades. Once upon a time, the Japanese were completely married to the 4x114mm pattern; your Hondas and my old Supra are a testament to that. It should mean that the car, in addition to the wheels, are lighter.
Compared to the last time I went to LAIAS (2008), content was certainly down, as was swag. That said, I have no idea what LAIAS is like these days.

At my age, I care not to carry a bunch of swag around anymore.
It's down across the board at Autoshows.
At the last auto show I grabbed a bunch of bright blue, Ford cloth bags with Fiesta/Focus ST propaganda in.
They make for brilliant shopping bags, and I get to look like a tool when checking out.
Turning money into memories.
You're right, black Wats on the Miata would be very, very nice.
I just saw a Mercedes... something or another.
This older example just exudes confidence and style. The current ones... not so much.
I mean, even the SLS AMG doesn't do anything for me. It just flat out looks boring.

I saw this gorgeous Mercedes last week on Wednesday.
300SE.
This was in a deep green. Cars need to be in colors other than black, silver and white.
Big pimpin' Benzes. Was that Morgan at a track day?
Yesterday at a Walmart: Maserati quattroporte

This morning at a Mcdonald's: 34 Ford

BMW 5 Series GT. Unicorn!
Saw something very unexpected- a mid 80's Aston Martin Lagonda, in cocaine white. I was sitting in a bus, so I didn't catch anything good. But I did see some weird geometric shape and it really caught the corner of my eye. The bus was moving real quick though, and I didn't have a chance at getting a photo of it.
That is truly a unicorn car, and probably the rarest Aston I've seen yet.
I did however, spot a Porsche 997 Turbo S cabriolet and a V6 (?) Jaguar F Type.
It is indeed a six cylinder-engined F-Type.
The central twin pipes are the telling detail.

Visca Catalunya!
Well, at least it didn't feel alone.

In the last week I have seen two 911s, a Panamera, a gasser '56 Chevy, and a Quattroporter for sale at a local cheap used car lot.
An it harm none, do as ye will
