I'm looking forward to seeing it...always been a Bond fan. Hopefully it won't be so CGI-unbelievable as it's been getting. Either way, though, the cars, girls, and locations will keep it entertaining

As for cars...put him back in a DB5. Panties will drop. Crowds will stare enviously. Bad guys will cease trying to run away. Bond will have more time to bed hotties.

Die Another Day was a Crap-filled CGI fest.

Casino Royale looked nothing but authentic. let us hope they keep a similar train of thought

    Daniel Craig demands special tyres

    Check this out !!

I read this on another QoS forum:

Daniel Craig is insisting that production company EON fits his Bond car with special tyres during promotional activities. Tyres that will actually be able to handle the amount of horsepower produced by the Aston Martin DBSs he’s cruising around in. After all the crashes that occurred during the shoots… I have a cousin working at EON who told me. I didn’t believe it at first but then he showed me a photo he took with his mobile (check it out). ImageShack - Hosting :: dcs0408kz3.jpg Looks good!
In an interview DC once said that he didn’t mind getting injured during shoots and that he wanted to be a stuntman when he was young… And now he wants special tyres!?!

I call BS. The pic is such low quality that it could be a bad photoshop or just bad fringing.
"Special tyres" for promo activities might well be to stick some worn slicks on the rears to let him do burn-outs and drifts at lower speeds so he "looks cool"

Trailer in the background with cars looks like it was stuck in there.

Why would you need to photshop a car anyway?, We know pretty much everything?.

Apologies for reviving an old thread but Internet rules state it is always better to revive than to repost.

    THE FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

After seeing the movie tonight with my father I have a few observations:

    - The opening car chase was entirely epic but incredibly short.

    - The opening credits were handled well but there was no real substance to them. I get the metaphor of him being in a desert, no need to ram it home 3 or 4 times. Also, I feel like Jack White completely overpowers the Stunning Vocals of Alicia Keys and that they are quite a poor match together.

    - Fields was a character designed entirely for two reasons - to see naked & to die spectacularly. IE useless.

The movie itself left me a little cold. While the action sequences had their plus points I felt the movie was much like the character they were trying to create with Bond - a decent looking (the camera work, colours & locations? epic.) but still rather empty shell of a movie that was about 20 minutes too short. Every detail was too neatly packaged, and the fight scenes, while memorable, lacked the gritty realism of Casino Royale. Traces of the Bourne Identity series were all over the action sequences and it was not in keeping with the style of a Bond movie, in my humble opinion.

The villain (if you can call him that) was masterfully portrayed but was inconsequential. Camille was beautiful, reasonably integral to the story but somehow it felt like she was in her own sort of mini-episode.

My problem with the movie is two-fold. There is a delibrate rejection of previous Bond staples in some aspects of the piece which I find a mixed bag. The rejection of the Witticisms & snide remarks are appreciated, as is the sense of realism - but perhaps the story was too real - Bond is meant to be somewhat of a super-human figure and to show him as a flawed hero, while somewhat trendy in modern movies, is perhaps not the best solution.

This rejection also leads to another point - where was the beauty we've come to expect? There was a 35 second love scene, and that was it. No passion, no romance, just the seduction of some girl in a redheaded wig. I understand the man is in mourning but It's a marked shift from other Bond films that I was not particularly fond of. It felt lacking in soul, perhaps a delibrate attempt by the film maker, but there are ways to invoke such feelings without the audience being left out of proceedings.

Overall the rejection of certain Bond idiosyncracies was successful in some areas but in the end did the film no favours. I felt somewhat let down by the movie considering, if you read my above posts, I was holding it in high regard.

Overall: not as good as The story that preceded it, and severely lacking in substance. C+.

Bond with no gadgets. Bond with no help. Bond with brutality, Bond love, Bond for the modern day..

They say this bond is the closest to the true bond - That Ian Flemings had in mind.

I saw it last night and liked it for the most part. If those were Brera's in the first scene, there is now way they could have kept up with the DBS. there wasn't enough chase scenes with cars, all pretty much running apart from the first 10 minutes.

I didn't really like the movie. Something was missing, I don't know what was. Can't put a finger on it.

The third movie. This is like a trilogy. 1-2 could be one easy. And until 3 we wont know if it continues on as it left.

It might be a trilogy, it might not. How can you tell already?

I don't like the fact that they drag on a little bit. And Ibrake4rainbows was right. It's way too short. 1 hour long? Casino Royale was about half an hour longer right? Everything seemed rushed. If they had worked with that and stretched it out a little bit, I think it could have been a much better movie.

I agree mostly with IB4R's review.

In my opinion it was a good action movie, but not particularly Bondish.

And by the way the Alfa-Aston chase in the italian hills was very epic indeed.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.

From what I've seen in articles and interviews with the makers and Daniel Craig, that was a deliberate move in this film, to finish off what they started with Casino Royale in terms of the changes to Bond's character, and then go back the re-invented Bond from the start Royale, i.e the more realistic but still slightly superhuman hero, including the witticisms etc etc. Those really wouldn't have fit in this new movie.

Daniel Craig is contracted to do 4 movies.

Name me a bond movie that followed one another on the same line such as Casino royal and Quantum of solace ?. You could almost join the two together as one long movie. Seriously you could watch them back to back and feel you watched one.

I don't like the fact that they drag on a little bit. And Ibrake4rainbows was right. It's way too short. 1 hour long? Casino Royale was about half an hour longer right? Everything seemed rushed. I think it was made to not allow you to breath through it. To almost feel the confusion as they felt trying to understand this organisation noone knows a thing about.

Already i have heard the next is 2010. And i feel it will follow on like Quantum of solace did from Casino royal. To be honest he still has unfinished business.

My feeling of the QS is it reminds me of the Matrix Reloaded. When it was over you knew there was more to come in Revolutions. And that is the feeling i got with QS. Cut in half. Only thing is the next movie isn't out within month. And there is the break down of that thought maybe.

But again i will say this. This bond is the closest to the Ian Fleming novels. This is the closest to the Bond he had in mind.

But me personally. I see this as Bond in training. Almost a presequel. The rough and tuff brutal at times - edges being chiselled off to form the legendary Bond.
