    Aston for the noise.

    911 for me.

And no, making them cabriolets don't make a difference for me because I like coupes over cabriolets everyday.
Fully loaded the Aston is more, but not vastly more.

This gives me an idea for another poll . . .

Really, the longer i think about the GTS, the more sense does it make to me. The GT3 is the best Porsche in terms of performance, but it is really, really hard. The GTS nearly matches it's engine performance and also has quite good handling, but it is much easier to live with. It may sound confusing, but it's the Porsche for persons that
    1. love very powerful and dynamic Porsches (eleminates the Boxster, the Cayman and the "lesser" 911's)
    1. don't want a turbocharged one (eleminates the GT2 and the Turbo)
    2. want rwd (eleminates all awd's)
    3. wan't to drive it in everyday life. (eleminates the GT3)
You see, the GTS makes sense. Kinda.

The AMV8 is without question a very beautiful car, but in direct comparison, the Aston lacks the power and the finesse of the 11er (ignoring the price difference which would put the baby Aston completely out of the race). I'd like it, but it's probably not my sort of sports car.
Clutch's parents drove their Gt3 on a road trip to the snow - IIRC ~2500 Kays. Thats every day usable if you ask me

A friend drives his 2006 GT3 every day, it's his only car besides the wife's minivan for the kids. Bought it used, traded a very nice '72 911T in at Brumos and got a great deal.

As to whether I'd change my vote were we talking about cabrios... maybe. Porsche doesn't do drop-tops worth a damn.

If it's a soft-top you want, I'd just save a lot of money and get a Boxster Spyder.

Having not driven a GTS, I'll take the AM.

I respect Porsche's engineering achievements, but they don't inspire me

Seems like Clutch's parents have asses made of titanium. Adorable.

However, I have no idea about the tarmac quality in Oz. If the streets are as good as here, it surely isn't a problem, but if they have a tendency to czech quality... god beware .

It's not like a hate the Aston, it's a nice car in its own right.

I just like the 911 a smidge more. The 911 just seems more liveable on a daily basis and I hate attracting attention, which would undoubtedly happen with the Aston. With the 911, you just disappear. If I really wanted to attract attention, I'd get a Lamborghini. But, if you want to be more restrained, then you get an R8. It's sort of like that.

an older member of PCQ drove his 997 GT3RS to sydney and then canberra and back, doing three trackdays on three different tracks in the process. taking some backroads too. there's no real problems using these cars for long trips, they're not all out race cars.

I wouldn't mind either, but I'll have to go with the Aston. For the 911's I like a Turbo, GT3, or GT2.

If it has to be between these two, I'll take the GTS to live with, the Aston to look at.
If I have a choice of 911 (of any age/variety) and a modern (post 1960's) Aston Martin, I'd be torn between the 1989 911 Speedster in triple black or silver/black, just cause its purtty, and the "Casino Royale" grey DBS, just cause it kicks ass in every way and is the best looking AM in decades.

    Old-school V8 Vantage. If not a DB7 Vantage.

Porsche? Undoubtedly a 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The finest 911 ever made.
