Well great pics, got a real sense of what Baskerville looks like, it seems (to a Queenslander at least) to be something of a cross between Lakeside and Morgan Park, some pretty quick looking corners coupled with elevation...much better than the Paperclip ...must admit I didn't recognise too many of the names, must have been a lot of locals with a smattering of your boys, some Victorians and of course some Cockroaches (NSW)...Steve Thompson was the only one I recognised from here apart from the Wilkinsons MK2 Escort which is driven by the son in NSW and dad (Graham) here in the Sunshine state. Having a quick look on natsoft and it seemed like everyone got a very decent go...I see the final was 25 laps, bet some of the quicker cars were marginal on fuel
The Steve Thompson issue..I can only speak of people as I find them, and he has never caused me or ballast any grief, however ballasts' remarks about the frontrunners being impatient when coming off the back of the grid are true...he's (ballast) been touched up a couple of times which does piss you off, the guys up the front here are on pretty big budgets, and a ding to them is something of a trophy...a bit different when you are scratching to get from one meeting to another, but I guess that's the way it goes sadly
None the less it did look like a great weekend, and I thing Scott Fleming is a worthy champion, he was up here a couple of years ago for the Nats...and seemed like a nice enough bloke.
On your earlier post about the Nationals in QLD next year, it would be nice if the were at Lakeside, it's a hell of a track...however I think it would be unlikely for a variety of reasons, but hope springs eternal! More likely to be at QR, but either way the beers are cold and I look forward to catching up with you guys whether you bring your turbo-rockets or not.
yeah getting the box out was a prick, it fouled everywhere on the trans tunnel. We couldnt get one of the bearings off so we locked out reverse and 1st, he just used the 10800rpm rev limiter for the start the its all 3rd-5th gear.

Scotty Flemming is a top guy and was the quickest all weekend, thought he may have chucked it away at the start when he was on the dirt on turn one coming into turn 2 with a fairly wild re-entry. His burnout and doughies at the end where fantastic. Scott Willings escort is a fantastically engineered mark 1 and the engine bay full of Cossie Sierra motor and quad throttle bodies is a beautiful sight.he is also a top guy as you know most guys are pretty good inthe IPRA class

We were talking at the workshop this morning about the weekend and we are definites for queensland, cars or no cars, we had the best weekend and no real stress getting the cars ready between heats.Although nothing beats the thrill of the racing when your cars are out there dicing. Will definetly catch up with you and your bro, it would be fantastic

We had a Hyundai Santa Ghey V6 for a hire car, we found out it can spin the wheels but you need to be vicious, it will hanbrake turn in its own length , it has a 6700rpm rev limiter and the tiptronic will not hold first gear and changes automatically to 2nd

    Cheers
    John

i'll have to try and get into it at some point, possibly once the GT40 is finished, and even then that might not be competitive
on a Brisbane forum they have invites to 'sprints' at QR but i don't know what's involved there.
One event i do remember quite fondly was the Honda Vs Nissan track day quite amusing to see a DC2 ITR come second behind a R34..leaving the hond abashers in his wake

there's a aasa meeting on the weekend before on the sunday 29th i'll be running the honda at that meeting if that suits you better?
it's cheaper for me to run that meeting than a day's testing so i'll be playing around with the honda's setup abit so it could be interesting (read i'll probably spin it a couple of times)

You'd be better off with the LS2 if your just gunna keep the engine standard. If you want to put some money into it, maybe go forced induction then the BOSS will start looking a bit better.

Have a look at some of these guys stuff as well: http://capa.com.au/shm.htm

You could probably build up your own engine with the 6L alloy block and 4V heads, as well as some decent internals that will go further than 6000rpm. Might end up being cheaper starting with a standard GT engine though and just getting the block and internals.

i was quoted $65k if i shopped around for everything to get the cheapest price... $85k if i get impatient... $100k if i want some extras etc etc (getting more than a little uncomfortable now..).. $140k if they build it for me (**** no)
i think i can manage the first figure...over a period of time... lol.. it's gonna be a long long term project if i'm on my own
i remember the factory owner spent something like $20k alone on his engine...no way in hell can i budget for that, whatever goes in it will be close to stock.
