'71 Plymouth 'cuda vs '71 Pontiac TransAm

Which of these will win in a straight line?
C&D published 0-60 as 5.6 sec for the TransAm and 5.7 sec for 'cuda in '71.
The TransAm had 310hp as to 335hp for 'cuda but it was lighter (i think)
Can someone comment on this?

It depends on the age of the car and the driver. What about torque specs?

I'd take the 'Cuda, BEAST of a car.

Assuming that both drivers have identical skills. I am not aware of torque specs.

Hm, well, apparently the 'Cuda 440 6 Pack slams out 470lbs/ft of torque, along with 390bhp, whilst the Pontiac pulls 310bhp and around 360lbs/ft.

I'll take the 'Cuda.

The 1/4 mile run would be a better measure of performance. 0-60 mph only tests a vehicles' low-to-mid-range acceleration. Road Test magazine got a 14.40 sec 1/4 mile time for a '70 383 'Cuda.

A 335-hp 'Cuda means it has the 383 engine. The 440 was rated at 370 and the 440-6 bbl was rated at 385 (both were rated at 5 hp less for '71 compared to '70).
The Hemi was still (under) rated at 425 hp.
