Koenigsegg Agera

Koenigsegg will present a new model at the 2010 Geneva Auto Salon next week in the shape of the Agera. It is not the all-new hypercar or four-door saloon that many of us were expecting, however, it does represent the forward moving nature of the Koenigsegg brand and a steady evolution through 15 years of expertise.

The Agera retains much of Koenigsegg’s traditional styling handed down from the original CC8S. You will see the traditional Koenigsegg doors on the new car as well as similar proportions to the successful CC8S model range.

Tip-to-tail, the car measures 4293mm (169 inch), exactly the same size as the CCX. It’s width is 1996mm (78.6 inch) and height is 1120mm (44.1 inch), again, identical to the CCX.

As far as performance goes, Koenigsegg have kept the same 4.7 liter V8 developed in previous cars, this time there is 910hp at the 6850rpm-redline. Torque hits 1100Nm at 5100rpm. Thanks to a dry weight of 1290kg (2832lbs), the Agera manages to reach 100km/h (62mph) in 3.1 seconds and 200km/h (124mph) in 8.9 seconds. Top speed is estimated at 390+ km/h (245+ mph). As far as the exhaust system for the Agera goes, an Inconell system is being used, shared with the Trevita revealed last year. Coupled to all this is the Koenigsegg-engineered transversal, paddle-shift transmission with limited slip differential.

The chassis is manufactured from carbon fibre with aluminum honeycomb with integrated fuel tanks for optimal weight distribution and safety. The advantages of this also include the fact that the whole chassis weighs just 72kg. Adjustable suspension is included to help the car get over speed bumps and uneven surfaces without damaging body work.

As with past Koenigsegg’s, the Agera features a removable hardtop, stowable under the front hood lid. Bodywork is manufactured entirely from pre-impregnated carbon fibre/kevlar with carbon air ducts over the wheels. Aerodynamically, the Agera features a flat underbody with Venturi tunnels at rear of chassis/body. This allows it to produce 300kg of downforce at 250km/h (155mph).

The brakes come in the form of 392×36 and 380×34 ventilated and drilled ceramic discs. Performance is guaranteed, whatever the weather, wherever the location. State of the art traction control sets new industry standards with the ability to auto-adapt to the location and driving conditions. Koenigsegg have also maintained their relationships with Michelin and hope to offer a set of tyres, perfect for the car in both wet and dry conditions. Sizes for these are 255/35 – 19 inch at the front and 335/30 – 20 inch at the rear.

As you would expect with a car of this level, equipment is all standard. There is USB and mp3 connection as well as a silver key and leather carpets. Safety-wise there’s extra four-point seatbelts for track use, digital warning and info systems, a G-sensor alarm (handy when you know the cars capable of pulling 1.6G under cornering), and a tyre monitoring system. To keep elements of practicality, Koenigsegg include roof stowage and a bag, as well as offering customized luggage as an optional extra. As standard is the car cover.

Koenigsegg are understandably pleased about the work they have completed on the interior of the Agera. They have basically stated from scratch developing an all-new carbon fibre center console and tunnel assembly. A new ‘ghost’ lighting system implements invisible nanotubes to illuminate the aluminum buttons. Leather mats have already been mentioned, Agera stitching is unique to this car only.

The price is unknown, however, we do know that Koenigsegg plan to maintain a steady rate of 16-20 cars per year. Cars will be with owners by the end of the year following a six month development period. Orders for the Agera will be taken from the start of the Geneva Auto Salon.

In case you were wondering, Agera can be translated in two ways; first in Swedish to the verb of ‘to act’, secondly in Greek to mean ‘ageless'.

They didn't state anywhere "we are going to release a new car", and the four door Quant was actually an NLV project, just engineered by Koenigsegg.

Better than nothing from a company who focused itself on purchasing Saab and which isn't even very healthy on its own. Now if only we could get some decent interior too...

Yes but Koenigsegg wanted to blow their wad on it first.

Yes...the fad of using them as automotive jewelry is getting old already.

Near the middle of the middle of middle England.
Oh look! A squashed Ferrari 360, there. I hope that this is just a poor shop instead of official photos, otherwise I'll be just a bit disappointed with this bodykitted CCX.

Where drug dealers and asian stores are born, California
It's probably is a fan made set of pictures.

(See attached)
I think various sections of the car were inspired by different parts of other cars.
Ferrari California- hood
Ferrari F430- lights, front bumper
Cizeta V16- entire rear end
Koenigsegg CCX- everything else XD

If this is real and is meant to be a successor to the CCX then Koenigsegg's designers are doing the same thing Ferrari did with the 360 and the 430, restyling the bumpers and adding more holes to it. Come on your not fooling anyone, its just a CCX face lift, not an entirely new car.

Koenigsegg Agera #2

Quote:
Agera

Koenigsegg is celebrating 15 year of outstanding performance by unleashing their latest creation - The Agera.
Koenigsegg celebrate 15 years of making dream cars, by unleashing their latest jewel – the Koenigsegg Agera. A new supercar aimed to take the Koenigsegg experience to the next level, both on the road and the track.

Agera, the Swedish verb “to act”, has been chosen as the name for Koenigsegg´s latest super creation, as it symbolizes the Koenigsegg philosophy well. Koenigsegg is always striving forward, seeking challenges beyond limitations. The new supercar Agera is an outcome of that creative process and its functions respond very well to the given name.

When we believe in something, we do it. We act. the car also has to act, when commanded to unleash its performance, forcefully and fawlessly. The development of the Agera has been evolutionary, following the Koenigsegg tradition of continuous improvements, by honing and perfecting the end result, all based on previous experience and innovative
mindsets. The focus when developing the Agera was to maximize, driving experience, cornering speed, braking and adaptability, says Christian von Koenigsegg.

A testament to time

The Koenigsegg Agera is a testament to time. The original shape and concept of the Koenigsegg CC, created 15 years ago, is still valid, fresh and highly competitive today. The Agera still stay true to the original philosophy, shape and size of the original CC. At the same time, it looks, feels and performs like something belonging to the future, with all new content.

A Supercar is not better than the tires it use, as it is the only link between the road and the car. Therefore Koenigsegg has a deep and long term collaboration with Michelin, when it comes to tire development. The Agera program will take this collaboration to the next level and is expected to set new standards when it comes to overall performance -wet as well as dry handling.

The Agera is as wide at the front as in the rear of the car. This gives very good balance in corners and minimizes body roll.

The Agera also features the latest in braking technology, incorporating an adjustable ABS system, 392x36 and 380x34 ventilated and drilled ceramic discs, for unparalleled braking performance and zero fade regardless of track or road condition. Thanks to optimized breathing and Twin Turbo, power is now 910 hp, running on regular petrol. Torque is maximum 1100 nm and is reached at 5100 rpm. There is over 1000 nm of torque available from 2680 to 6100 rpm.

The new traction control is the fastest reacting in the industry, with auto adapt functionality for different road conditions and driving styles as well as several manual settings.

Koenigsegg has also developed a new type of interior illumination, which is a worlds frst in the car industry - Ghost light. The illumination shines through the billet aluminium buttons and surfaces by way of invisible nanotubes, creating excellent
visibility of the symbols, as well as a very clean and stylish appearance, framed by an all-new carbon fbre centre console and tunnel assembly.

Furthermore, the driver can easily select the information he wants displayed in front of him, on the all new multi-info cluster
combined with the upgraded infotainment display, ranging from basic functionality, to G force meter, power meters, Sat-nav, music, lap-timer or compasses – to best suit the current driving conditions, be it highway cruising, touring country roads, city
navigation or serious track driving. Furthermore the interior features the new Agera stitching and seams, which gives an
beutiful fuidity to the interior.

All in all the Agera is created to maintain Koenigsegg’s position as one of the most engaging and top performing cars on the
road, on the track -on the planet. Still, maintaining the largest luggage space in the industry and the novel Koenigsegg doors and detachable/stow able hardtop, that really makes all Koenigsegg cars stand out.

The Agera will be produced in parallel to the Award winning CCX and CCXR models. This gives Koenigsegg the ability to live up to our customers varying wishes and demands. The Agera is on display at the 80th Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva. The pre-production show car will be put through its phases for the coming six month prior to the production car launch of the Agera. Finally, Agera is also short for the Greek word Ageratos, which in ancient Greek means “ageless”.
