What type of production numbers or price would make it a "real production car"?
Those numbers in fast-autos are ull of the estimated figures put out by manufacturers and that's just BS.
Looks like they're also missing cars that don't get featured in mags or imported to the USA so there are lots of 'sleepers' out there

So some numbers are wrong and some cars are missing. Pretty pointless list then Don't you just love the web !!!!

What is a good site? It would be great to have an established source for UCP users. Somewhere to quote facts and figures from.

If you ever find one ....

Web sites have the same 'pressures' as magazines today.
The big list, the fastest times, the highest figures attract readers. So there is a drive to be optimistic and to use computers to estimate top speed based on power and weight - completely ignoring aerodynamics and traction !!!

Would've been the TVR Speed 12. It would cost GT3 money, but had 900hp!!! It was so fast that the company were too scared of it making its way onto public roads to release it (and this is TVR!)

ok.....i basically have what i need now. and another thing that would be good to establish.....is a page full of set definitions for things like real production car. i say a real production car can be something from a normal everyday car, to something like the enzo. what isnt, is something where you are A)incredibly rich, and B), you know someone high up in the compnay (meaning, more then like.....50 cars will be made)

So you dont consider an Enzo owner needs to be rich to own it then !! lol

    Personally,

A "real" production car would be one sold under usual homologation rules, and maybe set the limit to £200,000 on cost.

That would eliminate the "hyper" exotics such as the Pagani, Koeniggsegg, Mclaren, Enzo etc..................and leave you with cars you have at least a remote chance of seeing on the road occasionally, like the Murcielago, 612, GT2 etc.

Perhaps a little less outrageous, but also a little more like a real car............................something you could actually drive occasionally without needing a long session at the masseurs, or halve the value of it, or require a complete engine rebuild !!

My vote would be for a big bad Diablo 6litre !!

Completely stock, straight from the factory (after being run in at least).
Proving that the mantra "Keep it Simple" is true once again.

    Ultima GTR
    641bhp
    0-60 2.7s
    0-100 5.5
    0-150 11.9

Top speed of well over 200 mph (204 verified on a 1.8 mile runway, geared for 230)

And only a tiny fraction of the price of the Koenigsegg CCR, McLaren F1 and Dauer 962

Doesn't need expensive servicing, parts are fairly cheap, doesn't need specialist mechanics charging you £1,000/ hour labour rates (you can build the damn thing yourself FFS!)

Not sure if it qualifys as a "production" car though
    Thanks for all the fish

production....not an "extreme machine" or whatever. i am not talking about speed or cost, i mean cars that are exclusive to just a few people who have connections+the money for the car. like a koinigsegg is a production car. if you have the money, and you want one, you can get one(there probably is a waiting list tho). for limited run, if more then 100 are made, id say it was a real production car. if 20 or so are made, like the original carrera gt1, i would say that is a real car, but not a real production car

hennessey added some things to a viper, it can do it in the 8s, barely, but still, and it costs ALOT less (like 250k vs. the ccrs massive 8foot long price tag)

Hopefully, if ever, the Veyron will be produced and will be blasting past that speed. But from what I've heard, the top speed has been lowered. Boo!
